I will take your word for it about the stats, but bear in mind that we are at a disadvantage as we draft fewer players from our home state, so any analysis would need to control for this somehow. For example, players who move interstate don't have established support networks in the form of friends and family. That's why we need to squirrel away players in our evil academy. ;)

My expectation is that the games played by their selected players are more than the average games played by the average of all draftees picked by all recruiters in the year's draft.

IE that our recruiters perform above the AFL average.

I imagine well-established senior teams (which we have been for a decade) are going to have less opportunities for new draftees to get games, and turnover the bottom part of the list pretty regularly. What does Geelong look like in this respect?

I like the look of all the rookies (outside of Melican who I have seen little of). Newman fills an immediate need and could be a smokey to play early on, hopefully he has a strong preseason (like Rampe did). I really like the look of McLaren, looks pretty well rounded and versatile. Foote looks an aggressive type too who I also like the look of. Melican I have not seen any footage of really.

I liked Foote's highlights footage. He looked powerful, reminded me a bit of Parker.

What do the ressies watchers think of him?
FFS its a highlights package, does anyone on here say look at their lowlights package ! No it doesn't happen, shit I could still slot a couple of goals at 75 years of age and put it on you tube and say, what a goalkicking talent he is

Please, please do.

I like our selections. Hopefully these guys can step up and get some senior time this year

Some comment on the Bound For Glory site on the Allies U18 game against the AIS on grand final day.

Jordan Foote: Foote is a Swans academy player, and before today most thought he might get passed up by Sydney, as they were likely to take Isaac Heeney and Abe Davis. Foote worked really hard, and showed that he has a whole bag of tricks. In one play, he gathered the ball, fended off one man and did a blind turn away from another opponent. Foote has some real strength and his body is mature. His draft stock definitely rose today.

Pretty sure Mase brought this up a few weeks back , that having a bigger defender like this could do the ruck work in the back 50 and someone like Tippett forward/ruck to do the ruck work when inside our 50 ala times this year.
Having your main ruck go between the arcs and when resting you throw a Tippett in there just for 5mins or so.
Very interesting if that's what there thinking.
It allows you to play 1 ruckman without them having to run into the ground, then having another mid/forward in the 22

The key is who ends up your actual specialist ruckman, how good their overall game is around the ground and who they have to match up on on the day.

We've played this structure on and off for a while with cameos from players like Reid. When it works it works when it doesn't ...ouch.

All in all I'm excited by this Rookie crop. It all feels like the Swans returning to their core business of building lists from the ground up.

Stoked that yet another Frankston Dolphin was selected in the draft.

Newman is on the same trajectory as Michael Hibberd and plays a fairly similar rebounding game, whilst not being as good overhead as Pig his running is better and has a better well rounded game at the same age.

Good luck to Nic and will fit in nicely with your fellow couple of former Stingrays (parker and Z.Jones for those of you playing at home).

Good luck for 2015, Go Bombers
