No we’re not.

It’s off-season.

They’re in the public eye for the other 10 months of the year. That’s not now.

Apart from their contractual obligations to not to bring the AFL into disrepute, and to maintain some semblance of their fitness base - for these two months of off-season they are just Joe citizens like you or I.

It's a tricky field.

Some players monetise their social media and want the club to bump their content.

Assumedly the club would know who not to bump and wouldn't have access to those accounts anyway - except if it's a personal relationship.

The difficult conversations would be between teammates - when one posts things they do together without getting permission.

My employers have always respected my right to my time and my privacy when I’m holidays.

Maybe you’re right, maybe I am a unique case and I don’t get it?

Does your employer contact you when you’re on holidays? Do they repost your social media happy holiday pics to their feed?

I would guess the Club asked the Players IF they could put it up on Social Media or not

IMO …

Re: Players. If they want to show their Grandma what they’re up to, then that’s great and a credit to them. But that’s best done on private channels. They’re on holidays and it’s important that they give themselves a break, recharge, rejuvenate. Get themselves primed for a big year next year. And that means taking a break from providing a commentary to the social media crazies like you and me. (I don’t think them posting is wrong, I just think it’s ill-advised)

Re: Club reposting. I think this is wrong. The club shouldn’t be encouraging it.

As for us, surely we should be able to take a two month break from inspecting the contents of Nick Daicos’ daily poo?
Not his daily poo. Just about running around having fun. I'm sure Nick does not mind.

I don’t bother with a lot of social media, but players who want privacy don’t post on the very public social media accounts they’ve established for those things they do want to broadcast. If they want to share something private with friends or family, they use less public platforms.
