Toast Welcome to Collingwood - Patrick Karnezis

You probably have the best development coaches in the league, if they can get Patty motivated you have a hell of a pickup because he oozes talent, just needs to work harder.

Thoughts on Paine? Obviously not going to spearhead a forward line but could he be a role player? Has he ever been tried in defence?

He'll be a good player, not a star, but can kick a goal and take a grab.

What conditioner does Patty K use?

Hey look, Snoop Dog with the quote on the Pies site;

Patrick is one of those guys that everyone rates a little higher than me and subsequently I have become a bit worried I don’t have him as high as I should. Only been playing a couple of years and plays forward. Terrific size and stands well over 6ft so he presents as someone that is going to be difficult to match up on when his body fills out and he gets more core strength. Prospective coaches will be drawn to him because he is a very likeable kid and is very coachable. Add to that his ability to play a few different roles then you have someone who could go anywhere because of his potential. Mobility and smarts are his big strengths whilst his kicking and marking are good. Reminds me of Scott Simpson from the ’07 Draft. Only issue for me is his acceleration – doesn’t test as a speedster. Similar to: Jarrad Grant (Western Bulldogs),” – Snoop Dogg, one of BigFooty.com’s resident draft gurus, 12 November 2010.

I think i speak of behalf of all the collingwood supporters when i say good luck to jacko paine in brisbane, from every interview he seems like a top quality bloke and i wouldn't be sour if he went on to play 200 games

yep, got no hard feeling towards Paine

Interesting bio. Bit surprised at his height - 190cm. He seems to want midfield time, but two tall mids in the same side?
I'm kinda thinking he's Goldsack-like

He Gets a Quote on every single new Collingwood Player - Does he work for Collingwood Now?

If he's not he should be asking for a commission now.

We have to give Patty number 39, just imagine him and Seeds in the corner of the locker room swooning as Collingwood players they idolised walk past.:D

He's marginally undersized for a KP player, slowish, drops too many marks, generally poor when the ball hits the deck and misses too many set shots.

However, in spite of this, he has an uncanny knack of influencing games despite showing all of these traits consistently. For example, I walked away from our win against Geelong in the VFL, thinking he was quite ordinary, yet he kicked 4 or 5 goals, and should have kicked 8 easily. 45 goals in the VFL in your second year is better than ok.

He missed the whole pre-season, so hopefully for you he can find a tad more pace and time.

I honestly think he's up against it, but it wouldn't surprise me if he fashions a career out of sheer will. Great kid and I wish him the very best.

Farewell and good luck, Patty!

Hope both Paine and PK can fire up next year. Might be time to change my profile pic. :(

A little bit of promotion here, but I run a Patrick Karnezis Appreciation Page on Facebook - if anyone is interested in joining, just use this link. Just need to edit a few things first.

Disappointed to loose Paine, I'll have to admit I haven't seen much of this Karnezis kid, I do like that he was taken with the same pick we traded for Krak tho!

You seem like a big fan can you tell us a little about him maybe why he was not getting a game his best position etc

Club tried to turn him into a midfielder which I supported at the time so am not going to pan them for it in retrospect. Actually looked very good offensively in the midfield, for a tall boy he s a smooth mover through traffic and racked up plenty of clearances and possessions. Pendleburyesque in that regard.

Defensively he was very poor, and infuriated the ressies coaches with his unaccountability, poor defensive run and positioning when we didn't have the ball.

If he can't fix that, he is better up forward where he has genuine x-factor and has a knack for finding space.
