Both North and Carlton can field big strong men more than we could. We really need to start planning 2024 now. Draft some speed in roles that don't need endurance or size like small forwards or half backs if required - put Erasmus, Johnson, Jackson, Treacy, Amiss, Draper, Stanley, O'Driscoll, Chapman, Walker onto a size/strength program and start preseason with a shift in physical capabilities.
Get the outside runners up to size early then spend longer building up to full running loads.
I read that Merriman purposely plays players through slight injury concerns to build resilience(obviously within reason).Apparently, did this at Melbourne. May be the reason our injury list has been smaller than normal. It’s all big picture development.

Johnson's had very good game...Hopefully gets rising star nom...
Gave it to Hewett who was a non factor in a 100 point loss
Johnson must be ineligible due to his suspension, because even on body of work he deserves it over hewett
It feels like he's been forgotten about because he's a second year player and he's not a top ten pick of from a bigger club.
Erasmus has also had games where he could've easily been nominated.

We all know who's going to be the better footballer (and I actually don't mind Hewett).
I actually rate both Hewett and Ginbey but maaaan Johnson has so many great attributes to be an elite midfielder. Size, Vision, Skills and physical gifts at his age and the arrogance to back himself in. Honestly believe he'll end up the best out of the lot of our mids by the time he's 23-24.

They keep bringing it up on their board, too. Not a lot of love for Chesser. They see him as soft.
They actually swapped picks with Port to take Chesser? Moved down the board.
So it’s not just Johnson.
Imagine Allen with JVR, would have set them up for a decade.
Another Kennedy Darling combo.
History won’t be kind with their drafting after 2018.

West Coast's strategy was to target speed. They were seen as being too slow, and they thought all they needed to perfect their team was to add a couple of speedy wingers. Enter, Chesser and Hunt.
It's very early days in his career and MJ has definitely shown enough to suggest he can be an A grader if he develops well. I like the fact he has a bit of attitude.
He looks like everything we could want in terms of quality and list needs, and a bargain at that pick. Looking forward to him and Erasmus smashing another pre-season and locking themselves in the best 22.
fyfes contract is worth it just on his tutelage of these two (and young) alone

I remember thinking the same during the game. I think maybe when it was celebrating his goal; was towering over some of the other players.
