Agree on Fyfe (provided he can sort out his goalkicking). He is clearly feeling the effects of years of crashing into bodies in the packs and has also stated he is very worried about the effects of concussion. Time may be nigh to extend his career by sending him forward, pinch hitting in the middle when needed like Pav did (wish he could kick like Pav!!).

Hopefully we can get some further x-factor in our forward line with someone like Motlop in the draft, who becomes our Ky Pickett and/or Sturt. I'm not sold on Traecy.

Back to Young. He's a future goalkicking mid IMO, his ceiling is the highest there. Could become an absolute weapon.

How are you not sold on Treacy??? Kid is a weapon?

He's also an 18yr old Key Forward. Exceptional talent considering they generally don't build any consistency until early to mid 20's (and playing in our forward line doesn't help)
My opinion is that he is in the side too soon, which is a reflection of our list management. I thought the same about Chapman to a lesser degree, partly because he plays in defence.

A bit of Daniel Rich and Mundy in him. Elite kick like both of them. Bit of a lumbering type like Mundy (Rich is slow but that hasn't held him back).

Wouldn't mind seeing him develop into more of a large midfielder with elite kicking skills, which would complement Brayshaw, Serong really well.

We seem to be covered for rebounding half back flankers, particularly once Chapman comes back. Chuck him in the middle.

Darcy, Brayshaw, Cerra, Serong, Young plus Fyfe, Mundy for a few more years. Need more midfield depth in future though. Hopefully we get Erasmus and Henry comes on.

Our options for midfield are there.

Freddy fit. Henry to a wing. Mitch into the midfield rotation.

Fyfe on to HFF is good if Switta is fit IMO.
Lobb, Treacy Tabs and Fyfe is quite slow.

Fyfe Tabs Switta
Schultz Treacy Motlop read a bit better to me

In some ways we'd be better with Meek on the bench and Lobb traded to fill the gaps.

You mean Rising Star, AA, 4 Derby medals, 6 x Top 5 Doig Medals including a r/u, back and groin injuries, knee reco, 200+ games for our club Hasleby? That guy?
The one that led hard ball gets and contested possessions in 4 separate seasons? The clearance machine with his fast hands out of a pack? That Hasleby?
Hase is so very underrrated on this board.

I honestly cannot understand this board's desire to attack all of our current and ex players. It's honestly toxic. I'd never continue a football conversation in real life with a freo fan that attacks our players as much as the people on this board do

Hughes as a forward??? Looks like a player who prefers the ball in front of him and not that agile . And if Sturt is fit he plays that medium height forward role .
Tbh with all our young players coming on Hughes is going to be depth very soon, by halfway through next season if not already.

Although he's not involved in the game as much as we and probably he would like, he does so much for us structurally. Frees up Tabs. It's a shame Lobb is injured. You are right though, he wouldn't be needed if we had just taken Ben King instead of trading that pick for Hogan.

He would definitely still be needed, just developing at Peel. If we didn't have him we'd possibly only have King forward in 2-3 years.

If Ben King can't be kept at Gold Coast with extra out of the cap AFL cash then Freo sure aren't keeping him.

Now watch Gold Coast trade King for Lobb.

Regardless of cash I reckon we’d have had a higher chance of keeping him then GC. I’d argue being at a perennial bottom 4 club that is always being shat on left and right has much more impact on desirability then an extra 200k a year

I don't think the perception of Gold Coast is that different to the view of Fremantle from within Victorian football.

Disagree, and I dont think that matters anyway. It's about when you're in the environment. The environment in GC would be horrendous

I agree with that, from what I've heard out of the parents of some of their current and previous players the culture there left a lot to be desired.

Fat, lazy and soft (pudgey) describes Hase well these days but not through his playing career

Instead of trading for Hogan in 2018 we should have kept picks 5 & 6 when Neale left, and traded up one spot to get the two picks ahead of st kilda.
Then drafted both king brothers together and have them here for the next 15 years in the west as our two key forwards

Remember teams killing us on the spread.
