9:16 left in the 3rd for anyone who wants some Hayden Young pr0n

This kid is an absolute jet.

What surprised me is that he can be a bit of a bill in the packs also when he has to go.

Lethal kick and it makes me wonder if we are playing him too far back given our midfielders don’t like kicking goals. Imagine young getting more of the ball 50-60 from goal. Could get Bontempelli type goal production from him.

We just need more goals from the midfield and Brodie, Brayshaw and Serong and Acres aren’t delivering. Need O’Driscoll back too

I may ruffle some feathers here but I think he projects better than Chapman. You can clearly see why he was touted as a potential number 1 pick
I think his form is ahead of Chapman at the moment which is to be expected give Chapmans injury lay off. Chapman was ahead earlier in the year and has more midfield potential IMO. Young really is a Birchall clone though. Going to play a lot of games

You hungover? Talk about underplaying the kid.

Happy to have both of them TBH.

The same Birchall who has 4 premiership medals, an All Australian selection - he was a pretty decent player.

You are probably underplaying his career.

Don't mind the comparison at all, love the way Young is progressing.

Trying to remember, have we ever had a half back that could take contested marks, break lines with run, and hit challenging targets by foot? I can't think of one.
Duffield is probably the closest thing we've had

I had him playing wing / half forward 12 months ago but got shouted down

As much as I’d love to see it and think he would be great at kicking goals his intercept marking and way he reads the defensive game is too valuable to toy with

Young's star is growing. Perfect 10 votes in the Coaches award and this little write up.

6. Hayden Young is growing before our very eyes

If it wasn't obvious enough already, Hayden Young is going to be a star of the competition for many years to come. Throughout Fremantle's pulsating draw against Richmond, Young was an immovable object in the back half, particularly in the final term when the pressure went up tenfold, while his sensational ball use also stood out. Young shone the brightest under the Friday night lights, racking up a game-high 31 disposals at an astonishing efficiency of 83 per cent, to go with 10 intercept possessions and 467 metres gained while also clunking a personal-best 14 marks to cap off a career night. After his first two seasons were ruined by injuries, the 21-year-old defender has enjoyed a breakout campaign in the heart of the Dockers' formidable defensive unit, which is set to reap the rewards of his ongoing development into one of the best interceptors in the game not only into September, but beyond. - Nick D'Urbano

Yeah, but is he going to be as good as Birchall?

Johnno for sure, Ibbo wasn't a contested marker and his slow decision making meant he rarely broke lines with his kicking but Johnno yes!

Johnno was great although I remember his kicking wasn’t the most reliable. Kicked the odd flour bag. Also he took a while to come good. Young projects to be a very high performer for 10 years with multiple AA’s.

Think we definitely need to try one of a Chappy or Young in the middle.
