I think he continues to show that he will be the best of our young guns or at the least on the same level as Brayshaw and Darcy. Both of whom are yet to peak, are game winners in their own right and are A grade players already.

Pace, agility, evasiveness, balance, vision, skills, contested work... I am not certain of his contested marking but expect that to develop in the next 20 games.

Pick 14 seems was a steal. If the draft took place again in a month, I think he would be taken in the top three. I would take him at number 1. I said earlier in this thread that given our list needs we may look at McDonald. After last night and his previous two games before his Covid break I think I would take Chappy.

He came back from a fortnight off footy and was dominant. I fully expect McDonald will be a very good player.

What is the most exciting thing about these two pictures?

Mundy has played longer than all of those players combined?

Cannot be underestimated how important it has been to have Mundy (and Fyfe and Walters to a lesser degree) mentoring those coming through. Sure coaches can develop players, but having it there in real-time on the pitch is priceless. North is a great example of what happens when you gut your onfield leadership.

Rising star this week surely?

Any other rookies deliver any notable games so far this round?

Hobbs from Essendon looked like he had a good game last night based solely on his stats...

19 possies, 7 marks, 4 tackles, 1 goal, 63% disp efficiency, 130m gained, 6 score involvements

Vs Heath...

25 possies, 5 marks, 3 tackles, 92% disp efficiency, 214m gained, 12 intercept poss, 5 score involvements

Heath definitely deserves it though based on the round so far...will be disappointed if they give it to Hobbs over him... it's the sort of stuff the AFL would do though so wouldn't surprise me 😕

Deserves the Nom this week but wouldn’t be surprised if the give it to DeKoning from the cats or Wanganeen milera this week.
None of these selectors were watching us on Friday night you can be certain of that.

These are the same fools that didn’t even nominate Andy Brayshaw in his draft year

Won't be Wanganeen Milera...
Comp this week will be DeKoning (Cats one), Hobbs or Rioli Jnr

Chappie deserves it though... noticed he made 2 teams of the round...SEN's and ch7's...

To be fair brayshaw didn't really have any stand out performances. He was bog for us and on track for a nom in the wce game before gaff happened

Thing about Chappies performances, they are now expected and considered the norm. No one makes a song and dance about it. Heck most people in Victoria probably think hes just a baby faced 150 gamer.
Absolutely correct. Heath is the best under 21 player in the comp bar none.

I see where you are coming from, and agree about the pumping up of rookie players tyres.

I look at it as an individual award, but the big picture is the team’s performance. Freo is playing well, simply because each week we have 22 good team players, not 3 A graders and 19 lemons.

Have already made a comment on the main board about pumping Mini Maurice’s tyres, too early.

Will be keen to see at the end of the year the AFL 22 under 22 team... you'd think we'll feature quite strongly with Chappie, Andy, Serong, Young, Noddy, Clark and maybe even Walker
Serong won all the awards he could have in his first 2 years and still hasn't made a 22u22 team.
