Am I delusional to say that even without Kozi, the forwardline COULD be the best in the AFL in two years anyway. Treacy, Amiss and Bolton is a seriously elite top 3, not to mention Jackson and then more than handy role players in Sturt, Switta and Freddy that could be upgraded by Reid and Simpson...

Maybe GWS and Dogs pip us on paper. Adding Kozi makes it a no-contest IMO.

I am most interested In whether the elite IQ and kicking skills of Murphy can make a real difference in the forward line. With our team, you Gotta love a player that is willing to take the kick on goal rather than pass the responsibility, we have two new players that are keen to take that responsibility.

Listening to Shai, it's clear he's not the most comfortable talker and presser-type bloke; but the fact he emphasizes how important family is to him and he has that to settle him and enjoy their presence at every home game and that he "wants to just go out there and have fun" and used the word connectedness about 50,00 times (!!), it shows how the culture has grown and emerged into a place people feel that can flourish in, so Shai could really be that vital piece that elevates this team into contending realms. He's still only 26, already won multiple flags and about to enter his prime!

Too early to know yet, but everyone....and I mean EVERYONE knows he is a quality footballer, an excitement machine and whereas I was once elated we snared Hogan and felt like we'd added a vital piece to build around, it was purely horrible timing, and we brought a guy not mentally equipped to be in that position with a culture not yet fully developed or cemented. It feels different with Shai, it feels like he's come into a rebuilt and quality-looking outfit - that despite a hideous finish to 2024, is on the cusp (possibly?!), where all eyes will be on J-Lo now and whether he can maximise the talent to be a Premiership-winning team. I like how he states no pressure to put himself under but to just go and have fun and see where it takes them. If they translate this magical 'connectedness' onto the field and stay healthy, I think we should see something good emerge within time; whenever that occurs exactly, I don't know. It's exciting to have his calibre into this team though, it should make a huge difference :D
