Shows you how important drive is in a player when our coach played 300+ games despite being 5 foot 10 and not quick whilst an athletic 6 foot 6 guy with great skills never really threatened to make a career.

Those intangibles are what makes Aussie Rules so interesting I feel, how can you quantify that kind of relentless drive to win that players like Mitchell and Hodge had?

How about your call that season was over after our loss to GWS?

Yeah but I admitted I got that wrong already - unlike you I can own my Ls and don’t resort to cowardly using the laugh/disagree react when I’ve been proven wrong like you repeatedly do.

Fair play though, good get.

Mate if you could have predicted both Blanck and DGB would go done with serious injuries before the season begun, then I want next weeks lotto numbers.

In which world, based on exposed form, are Blanck and DGB keeping Frost out of the side?

You gave me a decent serve with the GWS line - I’d have quit while you were ahead.

Hey this is their banter it’s great both ways and I am enjoying it too much - don’t do anything to kill it!

Oh let the kid play his little gif game. It’s amusing him accusing me of being salty when his present avatar is a picture of Ned Ryerson being punched in the face. It’s nice to know that in the midst of a housing affordability crisis I can live rent free in his head.

Maybe in the off-season to fill in time before we start our 2025 flag assault, we should start the BF equivalent of comedy roast threads. Chosen posters can go at each other with quips and memes with the rest of us supplying the fact checking!

Not a fast-twitch-fibre in his body...I reckon Emerson Jeka couldn't even sneeze in a hurry...
He had both talent and potential. Hawthorn were spot on in their assessment of his drive.
Was never a talent or potential or even a physical problem.

Super athletic, agile and quick. But didn’t have the tank or strength. In part due to work ethic, and intensity/consistency often non existent.

Guys who can kick off both feet and be as damaging as he was in the air and at ground level are hard to find. Too bad he wasn’t able to get it together.

Super athletic, agile and quick.
None of those three.

Tall and skillful was what he had. The skilfulness to gather when the ball was close to hand may have looked like agility.

But the explosiveness to react and get to the fall of the ball in contested play wasn't there. And this didn't improve.

If he ever came blasting out of the blocks, and then tired as the quarters went on, I might agree more that 'tank and fitness' was a factor. But no-one ever saw that. He was just 'less-urgent' from the first bounce.

What repeatedly looked like laziness was just physical inability to react as quickly as those around him.

Would you sum it all up by saying he was laconic?

For a guy who was what, 197cm, he moved extremely well, his ability to move through traffic, pace to get away on the lead and his leap were big parts of his game. It was just the consistency, effort and intensity, mixed with his lacking tank and body strength.

He definitely was ‘less urgent’ many say it about Chol but you see with his tackling pressure that it’s purely application, because he still looked like it whilst performing. Jeka didn’t do that despite the “look” of being lackadaisical”.

I don’t believe it was just an ability to read the ball as quickly because it happened far too often in situations where reaction wasn’t the issue.

He did just seem to lack the application, work ethic and intensity to make it.

Jek's main issue was his intensity at the ball and man wasn't consistent. He could have 3 great contests and then have a 5 minute lapse where he isn't competitive. He could have a real good qtr then have a really bad one. Coaches always talk about consistency. Consistency of effort, consistency of performance. Jek couldn't do this in game let alone game after game. This could be due to fitness but more likely mental application. Focus and intensity minute after minute, contest after contest. that's what makes an AFL footballer. Jek has the attributes to succeed but the above flaw means he is doomed to fail. He has been in the system long enough to fix it.
