Thanks for your opinion
I will try to be better

But your opinion on Maginness stats inside Box Hill were just wrong and come from a place of not understanding midfield development
So keep it in your house

But alas i digress

Finn has the attributes to make it at AFL level, he just needs to produce more consistently and be given an chance to play as an inside mid when the time comes
If you read my previous message my response was to Worpel ....Not Finn.
And flagged i shouldn't have done this in Finns post.

And yet again you cant help your self..

"Comes from a place of not understanding midfield development?"

Don't you think that's a tad presumptuous on your behalf ?

Are you an AFL legend that shares their time between Bigfooty and coaching AFL ...?

I'de give you a nasty look ...but seems like you already have one.

Now Now

Lets not make threats

Where did i say i understood midfield development?

Just saying no-one here really knows the trajectory of players. and that your statement is "presumptuous" to say that players doing well at VFL level will "make you pay", im sure most were saying similar things RE Nash 12 months ago who was showing less then Finn at that level

Getting just a little bit feisty here

The only seemingly angry person is you my friend, I just disagreed with your post in a way that i have clearly upset you, for which i said i will try to do better

I was a big fan of nash because i saw him do some afl level stuff at box hill. He just needed an opportunity to shine. Nashy had interrupted pre season. Look out next year. Finn had a great pre season he is getting his hands on it onwards and upwards. Just finding his feet and getting with the speed of the game. I think its a matter of time now

He has improved a lot since last year and has shown improvement through the year too. Not bad considering how interrupted his last two years were!

Not every player in the side needs to be a silky smooth mover or a Sam Mitchell 200IQ dual sided player.

Every side needs a big bullocking battering ram and every side needs someone that can run all day. Finn might be one of the few players who can do both.

If Mitchell is approaching footy from a strengths based approach than the upside of Finn is clear to see.

Seems like no one really watched that footage.

There were two "questionable" handballs from Finn, and they were only questionable because he had absolutely no other options to go to at the time. One long range handball out to the wing with someone bearing down in his face, and an in-board handball that fell a little short as he was about to be tackled.

Aside from that he was clean off the ground, clean out of the contest with his hands and had a risky in-board corridor kick that hit the mark.

Granted it doesn't capture all 35 touches, but some of the over analysis is way off.

Your best take of 2022 for mine.
People love to make excuses to minimize and detract from an individuals efforts.

Bro woke up and decided to choose facts 🔥

Finn Maginness (18 disposals, 4 tackles)

“Finn played on the wing all day. He probably didn’t have the impact he would’ve liked compared to last week. But still played an important role for us, driving his legs when he had the ball in hand and running those wing patterns, and we're just wanting to nail that for him going forward. That’s where we see he’s going to get his best opportunity playing AFL.”

Really like how we are developing Finn, slowly but surely becoming more attacking whilst maintaining defence, he will be an absolute pain to match up on next year

So the wing it is. I do like a pathway expressed like that, especially for an emerging player still honing their craft.

The game against Melbourne was impressive- if he can become a greater offensive threat that would be fantastic.

I wonder why they don’t see him as an inside mid 🤔

Same, it's a bit confusing to me.

IMO he looks a fraction slower on the outside when he's thinking about what he is about to do, as opposed to his reactionary play when he's in thick of it.

Hopefully he's just learning how to play on the outside, which will help him become a more damaging player if he does move into the middle.

It is kind of baffling given his best highlights tend to be winning in congestion and distributing it out. He obviously has some assets for a wingman role but we could really use a big mid that can tackle and win contests. We have Nash and duke but one more would be nice, especially a positionally versatile one like Finn.

Agree. He's not exactly a good distributor by foot.
