What did you think of his left foot snap from the weekend?
Being at least 35m out I thought he might have over estimated his ability.
Happily proven wrong.

I think he should have centred it, there where two hawks waving there hands for the pass near the goal square.

I'm glad he kicked it but should have played the team game.

Noticed during the game that Ginni clutched at his side after going to ground.
Just wondering if there has been any talk of him being sore after the game?
After the game & when the lads sang the team song, I noticed Ginni (and he might not be the only one, idk) didn't really sing it with much gusto & when it was done he was quickly ushered away into another room (interview, medical?)
The song tone seemed to have a bit of lid on it vibe too 🤔

Probably just had to rush off to the bathroom to drop a giant Carlton.

Has there ever been a player who's played in two premierships in a row for two different clubs? 🤣
Matt Suckling played in premierships for the Hawks in 2014 and 2015 and then almost won another premiership for the Bulldogs in 2016. Suckling was injured during the finals and could have achieved this unique record if not for injury. He was robbed of a premiership medallion when Luke Beveridge chose to give his medal to Bob Murphy and not Matt Suckling.

Martin Pike almost did it when he played in a premiership for North Melbourne in 1999 and then after a year gap played in 3 premierships for Brisbane in 2001, 2002, and 2003.

In answer to your question, Jim Martin played in premierships for Essendon in 1912 and Fitzroy in 1913 and Tom Fitzmaurice played in premierships for Essendon in 1923 and 1924 and for Geelong in 1925.

There may be others, but it's a very unique feat that is very rare.

That's some great research there. I knew Jim Martin as the frizzy haired guitarist who got booted from Faith No More but the Essendon/Fitzroy Jim Martin lived a pretty charmed footy life it turns out. And how's Tom Fitzmaurice's luck!

When you see someone like Martin Pike who won 4 flags in 5 years vs Bobby Skilton (one final) and Dyson Heppel (never won a final) who both played a similar amount of games, it just shows how much luck is involved in winning a flag.

On the Collingwood board they keep saying that Schultz is a better option, because he is harder at the ball and puts more pressure (although he only has 2 more pressure acts per game).

The also kept mentioning Schultz kicked more goals than Ginni, all year, they kept repeating the more goals mantra. And this was true .. Until last week after Ginnivan kicked 2 and Schultz 0, which puts Ginni ahead by 1.

It's a coping mechanism.

Some of them are being overly harsh on Schultz, because they obviously never expected the pick they traded for him to be a top ten selection.

Others want to make the direct comparison to Ginnivan, who is five years younger and has been fairly inaccurate this season. He probably should have 30 goals (and you'd expect him to hit that mark next season), and despite that he's been awesome. Some seem to think he had no real development left in him, which he has proven was not the case.

It's pretty much been a worst case scenario for them in relation to both trades.

That’s the bizarre part, how could anyone not expect Ginnevan or just any player to not continue developing, quite literally development occurs every year before Father Time slows the body down.

And particularly a young kid.

Ginni will sell more merchandise and get more people interested in the club than Schultz would.

Recruiting Shutlz for a first rounder was a weird move. Giving Ginni away at the same time even wieder.

Shultz might improve on an average season after this but wow - given their age profile and lack of midfield talent using a first rounder on him is so clearly bad list management.

Ginnavin’s role with us is different to Schultz’s at Collingwood.

One of the reasons Ginni is getting more of the footy. We have given him more freedom / license to play up the ground.

Way more fun.

Thanks Mr Bean , that's a great post. We will all be rewarded seeing this improbable event happen again this year. This whole season has been both unpredictable and improbable.

Ginni is going through a bit of a down phase. I've seen a few posts saying that he's still carrying that injury and that's what is hurting his form, but he's not being rested in game at all and is playing the same role as always. Stats barely different, higher in some ways and lower in others.

A few things to note that may give the biggest impression of a downturn, since that Collingwood game he is kicking for goal at a painfully bad clip - 28% - and he's taking less ground with his ball use. He's also coming off quite a productive patch in terms of disposals, and a very productive game against Collingwood, which makes the return to baseline seem much worse.

The upshot of this is that if he's not really that far removed from his best output wise, that means conversion is the issue and is much more evenly fixed. Reckon he's back to his best this weekend.

I hope so, the last few weeks his output, his footy iq has not been evident. I too have asked about his fitness. I am told he is OK.

doesn't seem to be playing with the same manic dash or excitement since the pies game. Suggests to me he is carrying a niggle and is just not 100%. He does not seem to be covering the same amount of ground. Do his klms per game reflect anything?
Even though he is still contributing, I hope he bounces back to what we saw in the first 3/4 of the year.

I think he played well until a couple of weeks ago when he got crunched in a marking contest near the goal square. I've suspected he might have a niggling back injury.
