Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Nick 'the Wizard' Watson! Rising star Nom!

A couple of nights before we called his name out at the draft I was talking to a member of another clubs list management team, and they told me that Watson has the best de-acceleration that anyone has ever seen(or tested) come through the draft.
He can go from top speed to stopping and baulking a player like no one else.

I remember him telling me “you guys will take him, and he’ll be a star”.
Clear the forward line and kick it in there along the ground!

Can't believe thats a highlight package of someone who didn't get a vote in the rising star.
It went for 9 minutes and 37 seconds. NINE MINUTES AND THIRTY SEVEN SECONDS!!!

A first year small forward, you'd be happy with 3 highlights. By the end of his career, I'm booking tickets now for the screening of his "Dermie presents" highlight movie.

He's quite nuggety and seems to be quite strong all through his core. Having such a low centre of gravity relative to the rest of the comp would make him deceptively difficult to move despite the size disparity.
Truck drivers that have driven in both Canada and Southern Australia say the southern hairy nosed wombat is just as dangerous to hit on the highway as a moose despite the size disparity due to their much lower centre of gravity.

Had one tip over the Land Rover once, they are nearly as dangerous as drop bears.

I feel like there is a lot of revisionist history going on here. Projectdignley was the only person who wanted Watson and every single other person on this board wanted to take Curtin.

I'm glad you can use the term "revisionist history" in a sentence.

Here's two terms for your paragraph.

Gross exaggeration.

Misrepresentation of facts.

My recollection was that there were plenty of people enamoured (myself included) with the idea of Harley Reid while a bottom 2 finish looked likely early in the season. Once we won a few and Reid was out of the picture there were plenty who wanted Watson. Maybe an equal amount who preferred Curtin, but even then I recall that was because many thought he'd be a safer bet. And then a bunch who liked McKercher or Sanders.

One thing for certain though, on this board TheFourPillars was on Watson well before anyone and stuck fat all the way.

I recall many wanting to take such a height challenged player later than pick 5 or whatever. Not against per se.

As it happens also getting a pretty good KPF and KPB prospect later may have swung the thinking
