I don’t think the league has seen even half of what this guy could be just yet.

Yeah it feels like he is about to go up about ten notches. You knew it was all there but now his set shots are looking better…That bulldogs final …he owned the shit out of that game along with Dear. Funnest time at the footy in yearsI don’t think the league has seen even half of what this guy could be just yet.
So if he has elite traits that were evident from his performances during the season and that indicate he will be a superstar, why does a player with marginally better stats but nothing to indicate he will be a superstar get ranked higher in the award? Why bother having a panel of experts vote, when AI could choose the winner in a split second using champion data? Is it a rising star award or a rising fair average player with good stats award? Maybe it should be rebadged as "young player with the best numbers award" and stop pretending that it has anything to do with a rising star. His elite traits
Devils advocate - doesn’t Rising Star require a great game to be nominated in the first place? If he is not nominated then the stats become irrelevant don’t they?So if he has elite traits that were evident from his performances during the season and that indicate he will be a superstar, why does a player with marginally better stats but nothing to indicate he will be a superstar get ranked higher in the award? The way it works is that there is a nomination each round. Players don't get nominated twice. You don't need a great game - just the best game of the eligible candidates. A run of decent games may even get you up over an eligible candidate who had a better game but not as part of a run.Devils advocate - doesn’t Rising Star require a great game to be nominated in the first place? Don’t focus on the name too much, it is essentially an award for the best first year player with a few exceptions. So if he has elite traits that were evident from his performances during the season and that indicate he will be a superstar, why does a player with marginally better stats but nothing to indicate he will be a superstar get ranked higher in the award? Would those traits that you saw last year, in your opinion, put him in the top ten of players of the rising star nominees? Or do you rate him outside that group? His elite traits
I would have a clear two or three from last year and think you can throw a blanket over the rest. He is under that blanket.Would those traits that you saw last year, in your opinion, put him in the top ten of players of the rising star nominees? Or do you rate him outside that group?
The fact that he didn't deserve any votes, apparently. What are you basing your opinion on that he will be a superstar?
He was nominated and in the game against north they were talking him up as a real chance of actually winning it. That was probably the point where we should have known he had no chance. But he was nominated, I think in round 19.Devils advocate - doesn’t Rising Star require a great game to be nominated in the first place? Body of work vs potential. They are not the sameThe fact that he didn't deserve any votes, apparently.
For someone who believes it is a useless award, you certainly have spent a lot of time justifying the judges decision on an opposition board...If you want to comment on how useless of an award it is you will get no disagreement from me, which is why I don’t get the constant crying over it.
I’m a hawthorn fan.For someone who believes it is a useless award, you certainly have spent a lot of time justifying the judges decision on an opposition board...
Consider your two cents spent.
Body of work only affected by conversion. If he converted early he would have been right up there for rising star. Can’t wait to see him this yearBody of work vs potential. They are not the same
Couldn’t agree more, number 1 reason I’m excited for this season. Going to be an absolute pleasure to watch!Body of work only affected by conversion. If he converted early he would have been right up there for rising star. Can’t wait to see him this year
Right up there, and zero votes, are worlds apart.Couldn’t agree more, number 1 reason I’m excited for this season. Going to be an absolute pleasure to watch!
