Looks even better than I remembered with it all together (surprised club has waited this long to release....)

Interesting reflecting back prior to the draft, wondering if his skills would transfer to AFL level when looking at his draft highlights, and whether he had upside etc. Actually his package almost looks more impressive at AFL (albeit only practice game) level, as he seems to relish the size of ground and using the skills of others around him. I know it's been said a lot already, but it so so Sam Mitchell like, that double or triple step to change direction back and forth where is deciding where to go to throw his opponent off under pressure to get space when there is none, and then get it off with an efficient disposal. A lot of that isn't so much leg speed but lightning quick agility in tight situation to find space (but his leg speed seems more than fine as well). Sam must love being able to show his tricks to this guy, and he has a few advantages over Mitch when he started with sharper skills and more acceleration in straight lines.

My mum is a Hawks fan and her favourite player during the three peat was Sammy. Told her about this new kid we got who reminds me a bit of him. Today I showed her that Frenchie clip v Pies ……. first thing she said was is that Sam’s son? I said no. And then she said …… come on is the club keeping it on the quite/a secret 😀

The thing is that the comparison is of Sam at 25 to 26 years of age. He wasnt as good a kick at Cam's age
Yeah fair call. In his early years Sam was more known for ferreting into a contest and dishing it off to a team mate

His kicking developed over time and become laser like accurate on both sides. And with Clarkson’s fondness for the kicking game plan, Sam’s handballing slowly diminished over time

He really does remind me of Sam Mitchell now that people say it, the differences are minor, he is taller, quicker, unable to kick with both feet, more reserved personality-wise, but footy technique and spatial awareness is very similar.

Just need a Luke Hodge type leader now.

Incredibly impressive.
It often requires a combination of players to liken a draftee's style to in order to describe how he plays, but this guy is just Sam Mitchell with extra pace.

MacKenzie - Architect
Ward - Runner
MacDonald - Silk
Newcombe - Brute
Day - All-rounder

That's a pretty good elite core of young mids.

I reckon you could probably add Finn in there as well as last year he put in some consistent performances and showed traits that could make him one of the best in the business:

Maginness - Lockwood

What a great young midfield group for Mitch to work with over the coming years 👍

Hopefully Ward can develop into a Walsh type player more then a runner.
