I mean he managed to kick 17.11 from 13 games.

He could get us 25-30 for the year in 2019.
I'd be wanting more in his 4th season as an AFL player. Jack Riewoldt broke out in his 4th season and won the Coleman. Schache has the footy smarts and technical qualities, but just needs to add that hard edge to his game, just like Jack Riewoldt did in 2010.

I want more too, but sadly his results depend entirely on the quality of service being given to him, and this is why we have leading goalkickers in the 20s and 30s most years.

You think Richmond were kicking the ball well in 2010? What about Carlton when they were winning spoons and Fev was winning Colemans?

We've got some great ball users too: Bont, Macrae, Richards, Suckers, Williams and Hunter(with his good-kicking switch on). If we can get Schache going, I'd back our best ball-users to hit him up consistently.

That's a pretty big expectation to put on a kid who has clearly had issues.

Jack Riewoldt had issues too. I remember 2010, round 5, Fremantle vs Richmond; Riewoldt was caught on camera at half time zoning out while Hardwick was telling off the Richmond players. He got absolutely destroyed in the media for having a shit attitude, then goes on to win the coleman.

At the end of the day, he's a pick 2 in his 4th year at AFL level, it's not unreasonable to expect more than just a goal a game on average.

no I agree with Antares. If he's anywhere near #2 draft pick quality (anywhere inside top 25 draft picks) he should be ready to start producing in 2019.

It's not unreasonable to expect a minimum 30 goals from him this year. IMO he's our best chance for 40+ which so many say is what we need to be a chance.

I agree he should start producing, I don't doubt that. I do think comparing him to a guy who won a Colman pretty hard though.

Is definitely getting more and more aggressive week by week.
I reckon as he puts on more size the aggression will come more naturally.

I remember being a lanky 201cm ruckman in my early 20s and stopped playing for a year to just beef up at the gym, supplements etc. When i was ready to go back to footy 20kgs later it definitely changes the mindset knowing an opponent will more than likely come off second best in a marking contest or in the ruck.

Cant wait to see some size gains over the summer from him. People will sit up and take notice.

What do you bench?

Would have had him in over Dale/Lloyd. Have him interchange with Naughton, roaming up the wings. Frees up both, makes our forward line more unpredictable and allows them both greater opportunities to get into the game. No brainer for me.
He actually plays the same role as Dale so I don't think having him play at the same time as Naughton is an issue.
Although Dale was a lot better on the weekend, he still wasn't great. If he doesn't improve I see Schache as a like for like replacement. They are both play as medium leading targets, both a little soft, don't apply much pressure, require good delivery from the midfield, good marks and good kicks. If anything you'd say Dale is better below his knees and Schache better above his head.
I just feel that Schache is slightly better at cashing in on his opportunities around goal.

Edit: Schache also has a higher workrate and stamina around the ground. Another advantage.
