Is it a surprise Bianco didn't get picked up by anybody?
Not really, he’s been good for Footscray but I wouldn’t say he’s shown anything to suggest he’d be a significantly better AFL player than his last stint.

I think most of the links to us drafting him were just born out of complete lack of any other intel. Can’t exactly publish an article saying ‘we have no idea at all what the Bulldogs are doing’ so they just point out that we have a history of drafting from Footscray and the connection is made from there

Do we expect Rypstra to play and have an impact this season or is he one for the future that we wanted to lock up before the main draft later in the year?

Highlights can be deceiving but like others, I was impressed with a couple of his deliveries into the forward line but his disposal efficiency stat indicates that he might be one that we want to get into the club and work on a few things first.

If his form stacks up, I’d say there’s certainly a chance for a debut after a month or so at VFL level learning our system.

I mean VDM gets games purely because of his defensive pressure and speed. This kid might move ahead of guys like Jones & McNeil within a couple of weeks.

Is he a left footer?

South Australian tick
Unknown tick
Half back could be under Bevo half tick
Left footer…..?
Pretty sure I saw him take kicks on both left and right in that video. That's a plus straight away.

A fast crumbing small forward is certainly a type we need. West, Garcia and Clarke aren’t lightning fast. McNeil looks like he’ll be gone end of year and Jones’ contract for 2025 may be the only thing keeping him around.

He didn’t do an ACL he broke his leg. And no, that was from this year.
Incorrect. Did his ACL and PCL. It was worse than a car accident injury. Docs thought he might not be able to run again, let alone play footy.

I've watched him train every week since the op's and he hasn't missed a session. Turning up to every training in a leg brace and crutches and watched him slowly learn to walk, and then run again. Hours and hours of walking and jogging by himself while his mates trained and played. The guy has put so much effort in to getting himself back to where he was before the injury. He deserves this chance.

Kelsey is a ripping lad and you've got a good one here.

Zero preseason with us though, it might not send a good message

Love this pick. Exactly what we should be using the MSD for - particularly if he's on a 6 monther and we can have a look at him and reassess later in the year.
I hope he’s on 18 months, unfair to judge a kid off half a season with no proper pre-season under him imo

Less about judging him and more about giving him the opportunity to show he's got something worth persisting with.

In all likelihood we sign him again regardless, but it gives us some flexibility in list management come the end of the season if we have trade/FA/draft targets, or we have less players on the way out than thought.

I love these stories.

Kids that work that hard to get on a list tend to work that hard when they actually are on a list.

I mean, I still love Matt Guelfi playing well...
