I agree, Scrimshaw is a locked in player. Should play every game and is pivotal to our success IMO.

But those rankings are garbage.
As usual Judd2Sewell I find myself in furious agreement with you 🤣

Yeh, those rankings are piles of absolute pool. I really like Moore and he had a strong season last year but even the most One eyed Hawks supporter would struggle to rank him as an 'elite' forward.

The shakiness of the champion data rankings doesn't detract from how important a player Scrimshaw is for us though, he's pure gold.

Scrim looked best last year when he was pushing up the ground and delivering inside 50 and kicking some goals himself. I reckon with Sicily back in the side it actually frees him up to do that more often. Likewise Sicily can do it while Scrimshaw hangs back.
Exactly it is the start of the evolution of the side. It will be a luxury if we can say to Scrim don't be too focussed on intercepting we want you getting the ball up higher and using it with your sublime skills. And a goal a game please.

The rankings might be dodgy as all hell but I guarantee you not one player in them is struggling to make best 22.
I can't argue that point, all of the players in the ranking are all good players.

But any ranking system that excludes our Brownlow medallist (Mitchell) over Moore, Scrimshaw, Wingard and Moore (as good as those four are) is clearly broken.

In fact it didn't include any of the three players who I believe are our 3 elite players in their position (Mitchell, Gunston and Sicily) although in Gunners and Sicily's case that probably due to them missing last year to be fair to Champion Data.

I like this take on it. I too was/am a bit worried about the potential overlap between the two and a clear role for each. I feel like Burton was doing well in that role but lost his way when Sicily took over (I get that there were other things maybe going on with Burton). Would hate for scrimshaw to lose his way now after so much progress.

Would not be worried about this at all if I was you. Scrim is an absolute top bloke that gets along really well with the whole group.

Ryan (whilst talented) had far too many tickets on himself. Was not popular amongst the playing group at all. Wouldn't surprise me if he's chucked a punt on himself for the charlie the last couple years 🤣

Yep, every interview I have ever seen with Jack he comes across as a really down to earth guy.

Judging by the Instagram pics he also seems very close with the younger brigade such as CJ, etc.

Its funny I seem to remember that there were queries on Jacks application and attitude when we got him down from Gold Coast but from day 1 has has been an absolute professional and great team man at the Hawks (looking on from afar of course)

Probably says more about the club culture of his previous club TBH

I reckon half those elected players are just classified in positions that don’t really explain their Role so they look elite against the wrong people.
Pretty much how it works, so you get guys like Jack Sinclair being elite because barely any players are classified as wingmen. It's still useful to a degree though.

At the time Burton was far more inexperienced than Scrimshaw is now. I think Burton missed having Hodge giving him on field coaching as to where he should run and kick it.

Was always going to struggle being in Adelaide, with Hodge up in Brisbane!

What I meant was Burton had Hodge in his ear in 2017 at Hawthorn and it really helped him perform well, but then he missed that in 2018 when Hodge went to Brisbane. So I think the drop in his performance had more to do with losing Hodge's tutelage than it did with an overlap in role with Sicily.

No...I was just making a joke because Breust was categorised as a general defender...but if you don't like jokes...:thumbsupv1:
Maybe Champion Data just assumed all the players Clarko recruited were half back flankers.....

Interested to see how Scrim goes with Sicily in the team. Probably pushes scrim into less an intercepting role.

Given scrims b&f results and hot competition for spots (if everyone is fit) I’m not sure he’s the lock people say he is. With Sicily back in side case could be made that the run of Impey/CJ combined with smarts of Day is a better with mix with Sicily’s elite intercepting/mark and foot skills.
Scrim finished 11th in the B&F. It means 11 players are behind him if we use the B&F as a measure. But if you use a measure, he is one of only 4 elite players at Hawthorn according to champion data. To suggest Scrim is not a lock in a side of 22? huh? Get a grip Burner :) Not saying we should but why not look at it from the aspect of Sic not getting a game then? He got zero votes last year. Scrim is a better kick, user, intercept mark, hes taller and kicks both feet better..and he is younger and we are building a young team. Sic is star but if you couldnt fit him on half back would you drop him? Dont think so.

Scrim is good but listing that he’s a better intercept mark is a bit eh and both are elite kicks. Sicily can also lockdown if needed on all heights.

My recollection was that Gibson and North Melbourne were at odds about his best position on ground. Gibson felt he would be better as a defender. North Melbourne wanted to play him in midfield, because they felt that they already had established key defenders and Gibson was surplus to requirements if he wanted to play as a defender. Gibson proved himself correct.
Gibson was undersized as a key defender. It was not the Hawks got Lake that the puzzle came together.

This kid was nearly split in half two weeks ago and would have been fair to have seen him back off a little since but I actually lost count on the number of times this kid put himself into heavy traffic AND win the contest .

Shit he’s been a surprise imo .
You can add fearless to his list of attributes imo.

He went wild in that 4th quarter, was going off to, absolutely love it
