West Coast Eagles Priority Pick (2024)

You said he’d been cooked for years, which is demonstrably wrong, considering he’d won back to back AA jackets in ‘20, ‘21.

1 good season in 8, you just come off looking like a goose. He was one of the best clearance players in the competition in those recent seasons.

I remember your tears in the AA threads back then, im sure you had a sob watching the ceremonies at the time. You’re still sooking over it now, it’s sad.
So Nic Nat is not cooked and it's only unprecedented injures that is stopping West Coast from not winning the pemiership??? Okay.....

He’s cooked now sure but he was one of the most impactful players in the league not long ago. The way you’ve played him down for years on here and even now man, far out did he kick you in the balls or something? It’s not healthy to be so obsessed.

Really weird flex from non-WC fans trying to diminish NicNat’s career - as if him being injured takes away from his record previously.

It baffles me how people can’t understand that an older head like Nic Nat doesn’t improve the team now - even if he isn’t the same player that he was 2 years ago.
We're not diminishing his career.

Were saying he no longer counts as an "out".

Same way you can't count Like Hodge as "out" for the Hawks.

Doesn't mean he wasn't good when he played

But he ain't helping you now or in the future

NicNat literally can't even get on the training track and can't run at all

He's hardly played at all in 18 months now.

Hmm..

Hasn't played for 2 years, and averaged 12 games a year for the 5 years before that. If you don't think that's cooked, you probably should be appointed to the Eagles board.

His all Australia selections are a joke. He has no feel for the game whatsoever. Commentators are obsessed with hitouts, because they need something to talk about, but they don't impact the game. 2020 - 0.8 marks per game for one of the biggest blokes on the ground??? Taps ball, and runs around like a dog chasing cars. If he he didn't have the look to make him marketable he'd be out of the game years ago.
His best was not very good, and he is far from it now. The fact West Coast never planned for loosing Cox is the issue here.

I’m sorry didn’t you just describe his AA selections as a joke?

Did I read that wrong - or was that actually a compliment?

Such a bizarre comparison to Hodge. You realize one is retired and the other isn’t?

Buddy has played 11 games this year and it looks like Father Time has finally caught up with him.

If you’re telling me you can’t see how his presence doesn’t improve the team around him, you’re clearly new to watching football.

Yep, and as for NN, these comments are from Bailey Williams.

Who, by the way, is having a standout season as a 23yo ruck and has improved massively.

Williams said the influence of Naitanui on his development had been significant, with the pair both approaching ruck work as high leaping players who like to follow-up at ground level.

Naitanui, whose own season has been wiped out by an Achilles injury, has also preached the value of being able to hit the ball in any direction, with Williams' tap to Shuey showing it is a skill that he is developing.

"He's been really good with that side of things. Doing the bag work, tap work into wheelie bins in the shed at training. That stuff has all been great," Williams said.

"We would literally set up three wheelie bins – one to your left, one to your right and one in front – and just chuck in footies and do soft touch into the bins.

"On a touch day we might do that for half an hour or so.

"He's preached that a lot ever since I got to the club, being able to have really nice touch and not being too predictable to the opposition."

Rnd 16 had 21 on the injury list which included, Culley, Cole, Cripps, Hurn, Jones, McGov, NicNat, Ryan, Waterman, Yeo.
That is 10 of the top 25. Yes Culley, Jones and Waterman were top 25 this year, when fit.
Rnd 17 had 19 on the list and Rnd 18 had 18 on the list.

So at Round 16 we basically had half the squad injured. Players playing injured and others out of form who couldn't be dropped as there was no other players to replace them. Can't do proper match practice training as no numbers. Players coming back getting rushed back into seniors when ideally they would get a game or two in the 2's.

So comments like "And the so called "horror injury list" is a total public relations myth. Its BS." come from people who must really have no idea.

Pretty sure from the round 3 Demolition Derby until just the past couple of weeks the injury number have been a constant 16-20+

I think to be fair though, you can't really count Shuey, Yeo, Hurn, Nic Nat, McGovern, Ryan as injuries anymore - they're perenially injured. These are their respective game totals over the last 4 years:

McGovern: 41/78
Shuey: 44/78
Yeo: 33/78
Nic Nat: 46/78
Hurn: 60/78
Cripps: 58/78
L. Ryan: 54/78

Total played out of 536 games, 336 games - so 200 games missed collectively amongst those 7 players. Barely any of them have played a full season in the past 4 years, and only Hurn seems to be durable enough to go on from here - and even he's starting to look past it. Ryan hopefully comes good, but his totals aren't great for a young player either.

There is no chance the AFL lets Eagles rot from here, with Tasi coming in I'm sure the AFL will give WCE all the help it needs this year.
They won't give help but I'm not convinced WCE need it.

At least we're not doing a rebuild while expansion clubs are pillaging the draft this time.

WCE badly need help. This playing list is vastly overrated by their supporters.

Every team deals with injuries. And West Coast have had a shocking run. But that alone doesn't account for this level of ineptitude.

Give them what NMFC got last year; 2nd and 3rd round future picks that need to be traded for players.

Then if they're still bad next year, give them priority picks.

Nah, WCE have just started the rebuild and unluckily been smashed with injuries at the same time. Another 2-3 years and the worm will turn.

I wouldn't say no

You can’t get a priority pick if you won a flag 5 years ago. Even if you finish dead last the next 5 years, there would always be another team that is more in need of the pick than a relatively recent premier.

If West Coast are still in the bottom 4 by 2025, then maybe. I can’t imagine they’d even inquire and they’re a proud club that is never down for very long.

Nobody's asking for a PP mate.

WCE aren't a beggar club.
