West Coast Eagles Priority Pick (2024)

Remove this Banner Ad

In the scenario that West Coast finish with pick 1 & it turns out Harley Reid holds them at gun point and tells straight out "don't draft me, I want to stay in Victoria", then they should be screaming bloody murder to AFL house (internally, not publicly) requesting some additional compensation. Be it additional access to NGA prospects outside of the current requirements for the 2023 draft or a compensation pick of some sort in 2024.

if that happens we should fund some sucker to take the draft system to court. Burn the whole thing down.

Nice work cherry picking one week - what was their list like the previous week? Or the weeks previous? It was horrific.
Cherry pick?
It's the most recent game

Last week was similar

I'll ask again.

Who is out?

Who are their good players in your mind?

Gaff? Shuey? Gov?

The list is simply absolute dog shit.

They finished 17th in 2022.

Can you explain that?

Are you telling me it's two full seasons of a horror injury run?

A whole bunch of those players have only returned within the last 3 weeks.

You know we've only had 2x NGA and one or 2 kids on the senior list playing in our WAFL side for the majority of the year, right?
That's because your list is shit and unfit and your old players have checked out.

You do realise you finished 17th in 2022?

Was that also a bad run with injuries?

Two years of bad injuries or just shit?

Which one is it?

Almost every club has had injuries.

If you call getting named in the AA side a couple of times in the past few years being cooked, sure.
Hasn't played for 2 years, and averaged 12 games a year for the 5 years before that. If you don't think that's cooked, you probably should be appointed to the Eagles board.

His all Australia selections are a joke. He has no feel for the game whatsoever. Commentators are obsessed with hitouts, because they need something to talk about, but they don't impact the game. 2020 - 0.8 marks per game for one of the biggest blokes on the ground??? Taps ball, and runs around like a dog chasing cars. If he he didn't have the look to make him marketable he'd be out of the game years ago.
His best was not very good, and he is far from it now. The fact West Coast never planned for loosing Cox is the issue here.

West Coast have benefited a lot by the go home factor. Problem is you gave up your future for an average midfielder who didn't like the draft and went back to Perth. Your current football department seriously overrated him, and have no idea how to run a club.

You don't like the system? Don't join it then whinge. Maybe West Coast can go and play in the WAFL. .....

That's because your list is s**t and unfit and your old players have checked out.

The list was fit, until the carnage that was the Derby in round 3.

Keep up.

You do realise you finished 17th in 2022?
Yes, with a similar injury run.

Was that also a bad run with injuries?
Yes, see above.

Two years of bad injuries or just s**t?

2 years of bad injuries. We'd be shit, but not as shit as we were.

You know we had WAFL top up players playing a few times last year, right?

Get a clue before you comment on stuff you have NFI about, as usual.

Which one is it?

Almost every club has had injuries.

"All clubs have injuries".

Yes, Sydney can't even cover the loss of 2x key defenders and go from a grand final to 14th.

Imagine if they had 21 players unavailable for half the season?

Another clueless buffoon.

Sorry that your club wasted its pick on Watts.

Very nice

NicNat is cooked now but pretty decent career imo 👌, no shortage of highlights, unique
Oh he's 100% cooked.

He was also 2x AA just a few seasons ago.

People must have the memory of a goldfish, or never watched him play, if they think he was over-hyped or rubbish.

3 wins from the last 41 games over two full calendar years.

Nice Deflection. Has about as muck relevance as me pointing out that West coast drafted the absolute giants of the game Gerrick Weedon and
Koby Stevens (who played an outstanding 12 games between them) ahead of arguably the greatest ruckman of all time. Max Gawn.

Saying Jack Watts is one of the all time great underachievers does not change the fact that Natanui is cooked, and never really had any feel for the game. He's just a marketing stunt that runs around like a dog chasing cars - and West Coast have been derelict in running a team by never replacing Dean Cox.

Rnd 16 had 21 on the injury list which included, Culley, Cole, Cripps, Hurn, Jones, McGov, NicNat, Ryan, Waterman, Yeo.
That is 10 of the top 25. Yes Culley, Jones and Waterman were top 25 this year, when fit.
Rnd 17 had 19 on the list and Rnd 18 had 18 on the list.

So at Round 16 we basically had half the squad injured. Players playing injured and others out of form who couldn't be dropped as there was no other players to replace them. Can't do proper match practice training as no numbers. Players coming back getting rushed back into seniors when ideally they would get a game or two in the 2's.

So comments like "And the so called "horror injury list" is a total public relations myth. Its BS." come from people who must really have no idea.

Pretty sure from the round 3 Demolition Derby until just the past couple of weeks the injury number have been a constant 16-20+

Wow, someone's salty that Nic is a 3x All Australian and 2x Club Champion.

Perhaps you should shut your trap about things people smarter than you vote on, no?

Settle down princess.

Nic Nat is a poor footballer, but great for AFL Marketing. He has been gifted a few honours - so well done in naming them little fella.

The grown ups were discussing West Coasts list, and I made the comment that West Coast still have a cooked Natanui and never made any plans to replace Cox.

But please, tell me again what happened in the past instead of being part of this conversation.

Cooked players should not be included in injury lists - otherwise it's not an injury list - it's a list of poor decisions by the football club.

That's it champ, let the anger over picking Watts first flow through you.

It's time to let it go.

The league won't want to have a prolonged weakened Eagles though, this would be bad for the comp. Luckily the crowd numbers haven't dropped of too much but the general feeling is there are quite a few more years of pain. Some of it self induced with a single trade where another club bent us over royally but karma is a thing and it will hit them hard soon. Looking like Harley Reid told the eagles the same thing Cotchin did so the Number 1 pick might now get split into 2 first rounders so I hope he goes to a club like North Melbourne were he never gets to play in a final his entire career.

Cotchin went at 2 though, we had 3 and picked Masten.

It's why WCE were so desperate to get pick 1, because they wanted Cotchin.

Watts and Natanui were both very average footballers, and they are both retired, and neither were part of the current team, so not sure of the relevance here.

But you keep crying and deflecting instead of joining the conversation..

One retired a multiple AA/club champion.

The other had their 2 most crowning achievements as winning a Bay 13 poll where the votes for him weren't counted, and **** & swimming.

There's only you crying here. I can still taste the tears from your first post.

You said he’d been cooked for years, which is demonstrably wrong, considering he’d won back to back AA jackets in ‘20, ‘21.

1 good season in 8, you just come off looking like a goose. He was one of the best clearance players in the competition in those recent seasons.

I remember your tears in the AA threads back then, im sure you had a sob watching the ceremonies at the time. You’re still sooking over it now, it’s sad.

Still trying to work out what Jack Watts has to do with the current dismal state of the West Coast list. Why are you so upset with him??? Is he now list manager?
