I don't know why I bother complaining about the patent umpire favourtism that he eagles get. It's drastically significant. It's obvious. So the AFL don't care. So it's impossible to stop. Guess we just have to overcome it somehow. Maybe we should be Collingwood and only play at home? That could work?

The umpiring was terrible. Kennedy push out on Brown 1 min after Savage had been pinged. Come on.
Regardless we missed a few easy chances. Most telling for me 3 Saints v 1 Smeagle. McCartin could of handballed over the top. Goal.
He had a a little stab and missed. We nail chance like that. We win the game regardless of the free kick count.
Hopefully Paddy next time is a bit more composed, confident and makes the right decision. He was good tonight though overall.

Didn't really care too much for the umpiring decisions it didn't decide the game, we simply fell apart after 3 QTR time.

Tend to agree. The game would have been over at 3/4 time if: a) we'd kicked better; or b) we'd had a bit of luck with the umpires. But regardless of that we were in with a show. And we just didn't have the legs or composure to win it. Disappointing but every time we go through this it toughens them up.

I have a dream, that one day twitter will explode with #freekickstkilda. That we can watch our team get beaten in most aspects of the game other than the scoreboard and free kick count.

Until that day, its time for the club to take a stand. Cop a fine, whatever, I'm sick of getting reemed - something drastic seriously needs to be done. I can deal with losing, to be honest the result was expected and not that hard to take - but if I'm not reading a headline with the words Saints, Fine and Incompetent Umpires then I'll be disappointed in the club for not drawing a line in the sand as a result of this crap that we have just witnessed.

So we should have won by about 3-4 goals, poor kicking is poor footy despite the fact that for 3 and a bit quarters we played some pretty good footy, but it kills the game spectacle when in the second quarter you have all and sundry meant to be watching and commenting on the game instead commenting how a team who is in front, leading by a few goals, playing good footy compared to a team who is playing below par.

Has zero free kicks.

You simply do not win taps, win clearances, win possession and generate scores by infringing the other mob. You don't, it's a $$%%^^n impossibility because you generally have the ball and they are generally not laying tackles to dispossess you, hence momentum, hence dominance, hence possession of the #$#%^ football.

Except if you are a visiting team, in Western Australia, playing the Eagles.

IDGAF to sugarcoat it, those umpires need to be relegated because they were by and large biased and incompetent because it's not that it was this game. It's because this has been ongoing for years and nothing has happened.

Nothing.

Oh haha but #$$% the administration of this game.

Gil wants to give the game back to the fans get some #$%^ professional regulators of the #$%^ sport, because #$%%^ I've sat through part of the 80's and didn't even watch the last 20 odd minutes of the last since I knew how it ended.

TLDR: Screw the AFL.

Good game by our boys though, played better than I expected them to and held up against a team that was playing off for GF's and has some brilliant players on their home turf, taking nothing away from the players or clubs who partook in the game.

It is such a shame that a game with so many positives had to finish up as one of the worst spectacles I have ever seen in footy.

Our conversion sacked, we could have overcome the umpiring bias if we kicked straighter, but some of those game turning, momentum crushing poor calls would have been more fatiguing on the players than the actual physicality of the game.

Acres non rushed behind. Steven blazing away. Plus a few more.

To be fair if it ain't happening while we got a St Kilda supporter as CEO, it never will.

Anyway.. time to move on.

Umpiring was bad but we should've been better.
15 x 50m = 750m.

I'm not sure what a dangerfiled gets when he gets 3 brownlow votes, but it's probably less than 750m gained.

So you can say we need to overcome. We obviously do, but we shouldn't have to.

Games may or may not be won in the midfield, but they're definitely lost there. Last week and this week, as soon as we lost sway in the middle, we lost the game. We need more maturity and more class in there. The first will come with time. The second is going to be harder.

Those goals scored in junk time at the end of each quarter kept them within arms reach. Runner needs to tell the boys not to go to sleep.

We should've kicked better and defended better especially in the last quarter. Nothing to do with umpiring. I watch the game and then come here and the opinion is clearly different.

I rarely complain about umpires but have you seen umpires more talked into decisions by the crowd than that , the final tally what was it , something like 23 - 8 . 8 freaking free kicks for an entire game , bloody hell. No wonder we ran out of legs when you are playing against a side that has three extra men. A great effort by the boys disappointed they ran out of legs in the last term. We were ok until the last 10 minutes . Boy what cost were the misses early in the game . Such a shame to play so well and come away with no points . At least our pride is back. All is not lost , our best performance interstate for years.
