Meh, it's fine. The wind and the coach's refusal to allow lateral passing (understandable in the wind, but still) forced us into tighter and tighter spaces, made the game seriously ugly, and played right into Freo's pressure advantage. They're better at rugby than us, and large chunks of this were basically rugby. Yes some of our best players looked stupid, that's what pressure does, and why teams do it.

My main concern is that Pratt's whole gameplan was about going sideways to the fat side and running in space. Would have been seriously dangerous with that wind making it nearly impossible to hit crossfield targets, but the worst that could have happened was we'd lose, and we lost anyway. We're a running team, not a rugby team, but Prior chose to play rugby and lost.

Re; Hooker at halfback -- most of our best players are midfielders, but there's not enough room at midfield for all of them, so some will have to play out of position, or get left out of the team. Obviously we can't afford to leave our best players out of the team. Maybe Hooker's not the one to shift -- maybe McCarthy? She played half forward last year, and was good. Thomas could play back or forward, but she'll develop her skills faster in the midfield, and her development is top priority, even if it causes structural problems this year. Because we won't win the flag this year, obviously, so eveyrthing's about development.

On that note, we still have to find a spot for Rowley, yet another mid. Gibbo's spot looks likely. Gibbo might be better than her this year, but won't be in two years, and two years is what matters. Or even next year, when we have Ella.

Whoever sent Dana to half back is a moron.

She's our best midfielder and legit the only player even remotely close to what you'd consider an A grader in this team.

I think the talent of the whole squad is a bit lacking personally. But playing your best player out of position is plain dumb.

Got to say there are a bunch of negative Nancies posting tonight. We did alright tonight. Liking what I see with Thomas.

Need to even up numbers in attack. Bomb it long is not a good game strategy. We need a central target at CHF (Miss Roberts come on down). Freo looked good. They will again be at the pointy end.

Fremantle Oval is a shitty oval. Played there enough and the wing swirling and favouring the prison makes for a hard day.

I just enjoyed giving stick to the Frockers around me.

Persist with Dana at half back, why exactly? Best player. Best midfielder. Best skills. Best ball winner.

Should Simpson chuck Tim Kelly or Yeo at half back?

You're a genius Prior.

Got told last night Ella is training with WCE

Unsure how true this is so will try and dig a little deeper
Dug in.

This is bullshit.

I was wondering about that. Gooch would be in the same boat.

Some of the players will be working remotely during the week but that’s not really possible for a firefighter.

The West Coast Eagles will go into Sunday’s game against Gold Coast without classy forward Imahra Cameron, who suffered a lower leg sprain in the round one RAC Derby against Fremantle.

Senior coach Michael Prior – alongside the match committee – decided to err on the side of caution this week and rest Cameron for the round two clash at the Whitten Oval in Melbourne's west.

This opens a door for South Australian defender, Lauren Gauci, to play in her first match of the 2022 season, alongside fellow Adeladian Amber Ward.

Meanwhile, round one debutants Charlie Thomas, Aimee Schmidt and Evie Gooch will don the blue and gold for another match after solid performances against Fremantle last Saturday.
