Gee, Fanning would be stiff to miss for Philippe.
Top scored last game and Philippe has been crap.
Don't disagree, but WA have been backing him, either because they see him as a genuine talent or fear losing him to NSW. Early talk was Fanning and Wyllie were competing for the final spot but I hope they persevere with Wyllie. Hopefully with Inglis back, both play and Philippe goes back to Premier Cricket.

Wyllie made a timely Grade hundred on the weekend, that should help get him over the line.
Phillippe is the one who needs to go. I’m getting the feeling he might be a bit of a flat track bully. Let him beat up on some Grade attacks, then maybe he can get another chance after the New Year.

No jhye bruised heel :(..that would be season over international wise.....reckon he is a strong chance of not going to the ashes ....disaster for aussie cricket

gutted
Lol, great drama, love it,
“Disaster” is a bit much, it’s not uncommon these days to take a cautious approach with young quicks.
Would obviously like to see him playing, but he has 10+ years still ahead of him.

Well that's it for me Lads Mitch Marsh in the first class arena test/shield is all over IMO

Too many injuries white ball cricketer only..

Such a waste
Yep. Everything is a waste, everything is high drama, Doritos and a computer is the answer to all.
Give Cam a bowl FFS yeah?

Computer please…am I doing it right please? Please.

Hello fellow WA supporters just thought I would share some thoughts regarding WA cricket going forward in regards to international fixtures and international representation of WA based players and its been playing on my mind for some time.

I attended both the first two days of the test at Optus week and half ago and I must say I was very disappointed with the crowd sizes. The scheduling of a start day on a wed in the middle of school was just a disgrace IMO. Seeing that we had no international test cricket for a few years thought it was a disgrace by cricket Australia is schedule a game on a Wed and if the rumours are true to suit a eastern state viewing audience is just wrong.

I feel in regards to the scheduling we have very little voice from WA cricket. The issues of the WACA board with redevelopment statues etc has diminished our voice on the national stage with scheduling of WA international games. We got the WC t20 game on a tue and the test a wed. I just feel with CA that Perth is more of a hindrance and an afterthought when they are scheduling international tests. Due to the lack of numbers and with the windies coming out again next year with Pakistan reckon that we could be in line to lose another test to Hobart...which will be a disgrace. I would love to see a day night test in Perth but CA is more concerned with the viewing audience of the eastern states than the WA cricket fan and WA public in general ...and that's just wrong.

In regards to WA representation, we are doing so well at domestic level producing quality white ball cricketers who play in various BBL teams all over Aus and our shield side is very good. But I actually do not see WA based players going the next step and represent Australia on a consistent level.

Yes we have Greenie who is the great hope of Australian Cricket and hope he gets better and achieves his talent. But the calls will just keep getting louder the longer he does not score a hundred or a take a 5 for ..and I can see similar parallels with Mitch Marsh coming up

Morris was great to see added to the test squad...but really does anyone think he is going to play a test this summer???...I think not

Jhye...the biggest disappointment for me if fit he should of been playing in the Adelaide test over Neser. I really thought Jhye would be really challenging for a spot this year and his consistent injuries is just destroying a real talent of Aussie cricket....and if you are not playing the public/media don't give sh**. I had jhye pencilled in for an Ashes tour but I reckon we are not going to see any international/test games from him for the next 2 years which is a waste

Inglis......For me still the best gloveman in the land but he will always be the backup to carey and he is career will be wasted

Marsh/stoinis....both just white ball players who are again always injured at some stage can only see them playing only t20 in the future

Agar....great t20 bowler but thats about it might go to India as he is a left armer but his FC stats are always poor

Bancroft ...Really think regardless how many runs he scores in the shield he will just be overlooked due to sandpapergate

Phillippe......another who is not stepping up in FC shield cricket...and really think its time he moves states...waste of a talent

Hardie good young allrounder who I have high hopes but I cannot see him playing test cricket in the near future

Sorry for the long post just wanted to get some things off my chest :)

Think you're selling the international credentials of WA players short. There are no serious calls to drop Green from the team, I think most people see him as a long-term star for Australia. Jhye would be in the squad if it wasn't for injuries, but he just needs to get right and he will likely have a 10-year career ahead of him. I don't think anyone reasonably expected Lance Morris to come from nowhere to playing Test cricket this summer but if he maintains his form, he will definitely play one day. Likewise, Hardie is a real chance.

Then there's young guns like Teague Wyllie and Cooper Connolly who have already been identified as future talents.

Sure, Bancroft and Agar are likely done but not every West Aussie gets to play for Australia ;)

Yeah maybe Jack but apart from Greenie I cannot see a WA based player playing regular test cricket in the near future and I worry that if greenie has a poor series against SA the calls will just keep growing louder

Jhye has literally shot himself in the foot and he is behind the pecking order now...had him pencilled in for the tour to england but that's gone now. Maybe next summer against Windies Pakistan he might get a shot but really we are looking at 2 years minimum for no test cricket for Jhye :(

Morris I would love to see play this summer but really he will running the drinks and I dont think they will select him for england

Yeah young Teague and Cooper got good credentials but they are years away from a test side IMO

Just think we are going to have a generation of WA crickets only playing cricket for WA...which is good for the state but i want international representation for the talent we have got

Green and Jhye will play for a decade, Lance Morris should get some opportunities along the way, and Wyllie and Connolly could join in about five years. Hardie could get a start in white ball cricket and who knows where he goes from there. That's a fair effort given there are six states, two of them much more populous.

I see a lot of similarities between Jhye and Pat Cummins. Both injury-prone at a young age but ridiculously talented, just too good to let them fall away.

And I have faith that he'll become as durable as Cummins has been since coming back into the test arena (played 42 out of the last 45 tests, or something like that).

On your other point, I've been hugely critical of the WACA (or WA Cricket or whatever they call themselves now). They've been distracted with property developments and now the pool, etc, and if the on-field success wasn't there, then heads would roll.

Listening to an ABC cricket podcast this morning (the one with Ed Cowan and Corbin Middlemass), they made the point that the SACA had made the day night test their own. It's turned into a festival, a destination, something that people now travel interstate for. That's what the WACA need to be doing. Make it unthinkable that we would miss out on a test.

There will always be the Boxing Day Test, there'll always be the New Year's/Pink Test, and surely the Adelaide Day night test is almost locked in for years to come. I'm no expert so don't ask me to come up with anything, but surely they can find a good idea or two and persuade CA to lock it in the schedule.

I’d like to see Inglis bat higher up in Shield cricket when the teams not stacked with its best players.

Rather see a turner/short come in at 7 and Inglis bat at 6

The poor turnout for the test could be the test team are on the nose with the WA public after what happened to Langer.
I know a few of my mates that normally go are now anti test team and call them nsw not Australia and the hate for cummins and warner is unreal.

Cummins, really?

Yes as he had moan about alinta being the sponsor and being mindful about carbon footprint ,they said oh what about him flying around the world and playing under fllodlights etc and him knifing Langer too.
Sounds like whinging for the sake of whinging tbh
