KB says Dogs and Kangas should play on Good Friday

AFL.com.au article says Carlton are favourites to take on Norf, wtf?!! Give us the Good Friday game but if they get it, give us the season opener then. Those are the 2 that are about the only teams that don't have a draw card game like a derby of public holiday match, makes sense

F*cking ridiculous. Every other team has a marquee. If we don't get GFF then get stuffed AFL. I'm also pissed off with Norf for courting the Blues. Brown nosing.

KB saying Carlton already have opening game, the AFL need to spread it around.
I think with Carlton being very poor on the field and the Dogs and Kangas playing good footy, that will help our case.

The longer the AFL take to make a decision the further along the blues get in their rebuild and the bett. Could be the AFL's strategy since the commission seems to be very Carlton centric.
I dont mind a conspiracy theory , seems quite plausible to me.

Oh please. It'll be north v Carlton. This is the afl ffs!!

The media have only just realised this week that this is our first Friday night game in 4 years.

Carlton have more chance winning the flag this year than the afl making a decision in favour of equalisation. To that effect north are being very hypocritical by wanting Carlton instead of us. It's just going against what the heart of the issue is....guess that's why they continue to simply make up the numbers on the field as well

I wonder if North are so keen on Carlton, coz if they lobby for us, then they're scared they'll lose it completely, due to low ratings/crowds between North/Dogs. Devil's advocate, and is poor form but could be a way of justifying it?

Norf will be terrible in 2-3 years given the age of their list.

It would commercially be the most idiotic and short-sighted decision of all time. Given that it is idiotic and short-sighted it is almost guaranteed that the AFL will make such a decision.

I believe the North/Carlton link is historical. The 2 sides first asked for the game years ago, linked with the Children's Hospital Good Friday appeal because the Children's Hospital is on the border of the two suburbs. The Bulldogs only expressed an interest in the date more recently. As a supporter I would prefer it to be against the bulldogs because Carlton have now got the season opener

It would hilarious if Norf and Carlton get it, Carlton rebuilding and Norf about to topple off the cliff. It would be a ratings nightmare.
Because the first round often occurs on Easter weekend I think it is unlikely Carlton will get the nod. They wouldn't be able to play Richmond on the Thursday night and then back up again on Good Friday. Are there plenty of bulldogs fans going tomorrow night to show that the 2 teams can draw a crowd? Or have the bulldogs lost interest now that North are "about to topple off the cliff"?

It's not about the ability to draw a crowd, it's about building brands. Otherwise we just give these games to the big clubs.

One thing that would make this a good game, is we don't friggen like each other.

I am surprised to hear that the Bulldogs think that drawing a crowd is bullshit
So am I. Friday night sponsors like a big audience, that's the reality. Supporters of both clubs MUST get along if at all possible.

V
It's not only about crowd numbers it's also about ratings for ch7.
Very true, but if there isn't a good crowd tomorrow night every large club will carry on all week about how our two clubs can't draw a crowd and shouldn't get to play on Good Friday. I am all for it being North versus the Bulldogs as I believe our two clubs are in similar positions being ripped off at Etihad and getting the worst of the draw. For that reason I think we should work together on something like this, rather than be sniping at each other
