Western Bulldogs want in on possible future Good Friday AFL game

Sometimes I'm driving around in the morning with SEN on and I think Andy Mahr(?) gives us a fair go. I don't listen to or watch anything that has EM on it. Talk about over exposure. It's the Kevin Rudd effect. I stopped listening a long long time ago but it's hard to avoid *the inevitable dial-a-quote in the written media.
*Edit: Oh yes and Fox Footy. Just can't get away from the p***k
I think Andy Maher's a dickhead, but he does give us a reasonable go. The Fox Footy programs give us a fair go, apart from that clown that used to play for Carlton - Mark something, can't remember his surname.
I miss Before the Game. You could count on a reasonable go from Lehmo, Dave Hughes, Maher, Mick Molloy and Neroli/Sam Lane, even if the whole show was just about taking the piss out of people.
The Footy Show's no good - it's either Brayshaw using his megaphone to declare North the leader among cellar-dwellers, Lyon pushing the Melbourne agenda (we get an in depth interview with every dud draft pick each year) and otherwise ignored, even if Giansiracusa or Cooney are on the panel.

I hate TFS and I wish our players would boycott it. Fox is giving us some really good coverage, and I think a lot of this is to the respect that Bob commands as both a quality footballer and person.

I think the club and it's supporters needs to be speaking up, we are too quiet, at the games, and even on radio. Often after a game, I hear the request that they want Bulldog fans to ring up, but only a few do, in comparison to other clubs. I know we are bigger than what we are portrayed, but it is our own fault if we don't speak up, and we don't start pressuring the AFL for a decent draw, a decent time-slot etc. Complain, and make a lot of noise so they get sick of us and do something.

The other thing, is our board should be on the front foot, pressuring the AFL to help us, but I have never heard anything from our board?

Apparently It's now 50 years
Bradshaw's been pushing for Good Friday.
Anyone for 60?
The AFL have created this whole schomozzle, and it's time the holiday fixtures were reviewed.

Now Eddie has gone public saying that Good Friday matches between the "lesser" clubs won't work and it must be a fixture between the "big" clubs

He's pulling out all the stops now. Has his Norf lick spittle helping him out through a multi-pronged media megaphone assault on associated radio and tv outlets. His next Olympic Games junket could well depend on it. Then there's CH9 and MMM contracts to be renegotiated or extended.
If both Norf and Dogs were to be a permanent block buster fixture on GF then it makes it a lot harder to get rid of one of them should it be convenient to vested interests and a bargaining chip is gone. The jockey on one of those horses has gone early for the inside run. I'm on the swooper.

what odds the match (IF it happens) being Adelaide hosting someone? If you believe their local press they believe they are odds on to host, let alone play in it.
Ruins the point. It's got to tie in with Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday appeal.

I don't care about who plays now, I just don't want it to be Norf so we can shut that loudmouth Jim "Superstar" Brayshaw up.

As for Eddie having his two bobs worth on the issue, I look forward to his inevitable newspaper column this week about how Collingwood and Essendon are Anzac Day.

Don't worry about the Diggers who sacrificed their lives so we have the freedom to play footy at in this country. It's all about Collingwood and Essendon owning the day now.

But does it REALLY have to? Im sure Adelaide would love to stick it right up everyone by filling their ground against anyone.
The whole selling point with footy on Good Friday has been about raising money for the hospital. I'd be hugely surprised and disappointed if the first game on Good Friday doesn't include one of the most beneficial causes.

Poor showing yesterday and it again shows how frustrated people have become.

We play ugly, we lose more often than not and it's a wonder those of us with hair still have it.

We're playing this contested style, but at what cost? How long until we actually need to start delivering with results or risk alienating more of our supporter base?

As for Good Friday, I think we have as much chance as Eddie McGuire ever admitting he made a mistake.

The big clubs get the big games because they are big and so they keep getting bigger. Does the AFL not see how obvious this is?

If the Dogs can't get a fair go at the big games, including Friday nights and it's because we can't draw a crowd or a TV ordinance then I want our equalisation money to quadruple because we will never be able to grow our brand with how things are now it takes generations of exposure and success, not just 3 pre lim finals and then another rebuild. At Least we will be financial.

What made me laugh was the Norf guy on the radio the other day trying to own GF because they are the closest to the RCH, what difference does that make?

Just gives us 4 million compensation, a decent ground deal and let us go about our business. If not let us have ANZAC day. Come on Ed you can't have it both ways you cardonnay sipping chunt

Chunt? I think you mean 'campaigner'.

I've been banging on about this for a long time too. Who is speaking up for us in the media or the hallowed halls of the AFL? Peter Gordon can't do it all on his own.

The AFL has to be much more decisive in this area, no good giving us a pittance as equalization it does not go far enough. Essendon and Collingwood make so much money from ANZAC day and the exposure is enormous. It's second only to the GF for exposure and they get that every single year. We can't even score a Friday night game!

Compensate us properly or give us more exposure and a better ground deal or we'll go out of business eventually.

In my darker moments I sometimes wonder if that is their plan. :(

So do I, just slowly starve us to death.
Best thing we can do is deprive them of the opportunity..
Keep building slowly, market well and hope like hell our supporters start signing up in droves during the good times.
