A lot of people are getting of the Colts wagon, but I would not under estimate them just yet:thumbsu:, six grand finals in a row suggests they have to lose more then a couple to come back that far.

Surely with most teams back training there must be a few new players around and the forum can get some action?

rock07 who are these three players and do you think they will move on or stay

I will not name the three but after speaking to 2 of them saturday nite i'm 100% sure they will be staying.
Expect a past champion bnf winner and premiership player out of retirement. He will still be one of the best players in this comp.
Also another former bnf winner who has not been at the club for a few years to return. He will be in the top 3 fwds in the wrfl.
The Jacobs boys are massive losses along with Perkins but make no mistake colts will be a force again. I expect the rest of the group to hang around.
ALBION Seem to have picked up a few quality players but on the other hand have also lost some depth. Will improve but not sure if they can make up the ground on spotty.
SUNSHINE Will be the big improver from my insider...lol
The new coach will make an impact no losses and some handy recruits will see the kangas be top 3.
HOPPERS In the same boat as albion picked up some handy recruits but have also lost just a few. No word on any names of the actual recruits just yet. Word is the boys from hogan's road are on a spending spree, although they should spend it more wisely, some ordinary players being offered extraordinary amounts. Will push top 3
SPOTTY The team to beat again, a proffessional club on and off field, easily the best run club in the wrfl. Should keep most of their list, will get natural improvement from their youngsters and always picks up quality players.
Can't see anyone other than ALTONA making any impact from outside the top 5. They will push finals but may just fall short. A force in 2 to 3 years.

I don't beleive this sh.t, same clubs again will be in the mix again for the finals and grand finals
looking over the last 8 seasons
Colts have played in the last 6 grand finals
Spotty have played in 4 and now won the last 3 premierships
Hoppers have played in 3 grand finals
and the strange one, Parkside were in 3 grand finals in those past 8 years, remembering that they were div2 this year after finishing on the bottom the year before
so the same 3 teams will be there again in 2010
how can the comp become more competitive? it is so predictable

Listening to SEN talk about the same sort of thing last night (cashed up clubs or little change in local comps), which is why i think it's time for perhaps the new administration to make an impact on the comp and bring in a points system. This is what the E.D.F.L are lokking at introducing in 2012.
Every player is already registered with footy vic, so the more experienced are allocated higher points out of 10 i.e
Ex AFL and depending on games played = 8 points
VFL and games played = 6 points
VFL 2s =5 points
Local champ players and games played =4 points
Youngsters in years 1-3 of seniors = 3points
etc. etc

Then the selectors can only put a side that does not exceed a points limit on the ground for that game.
This stops cashed up clubs like Balwyn, St.K city etc spending the way they do and gives hope for the lesser clubs. All of a sudden the comps even up and the better players in each comp start to spread themselves out around the metro area if they really want to earn a quid. Obviously more pro's and cons but i think you get the idea.

you mentioned st.kilda city in the same breath as balwyn.haha. balwyn would spend 3 times what stkilda do minimum, plus there is probably 6 more teams in the eastern and 6 in the essendon that spend more

At a guess all Eastern Div 1 , half of efl div 2, top 6 in DVFL, top 2 in wrfl & top 5 in essendon comp would spend more than city:):thumbsu:

Sorry for mentioning City boys, was just meant to be an example. After all i would say city would spend more than 3/4 of wrfl clubs. Anyway do you guys think this sort of point system would be workable? Not sure I'm asking the right people though. Perhaps the thoery should be posed to the lesser clubs.

Come on Rod give us a spell. No team in wrfl has the money city has. I'm sure the top 5 or 6 in efl would spend more and the top 2 in edfl would spend more but the likes of keilor would spend the same. At the end of the day it's all based on guess work. In my opinion I'm not sure why the big spending clubs hide the fact the have the money to spend, it's very obvious that when other clubs hang sh it on them over the big$$ they pay that we are all envious. I know I wish port colts could have had the money to spend like city do. Could have made me look like a coaching genius.

just wonder what Brendan Tyquin and Michael Spooner are like as they have both just signed with a ballarat football league club

They are both hard working midfielders. i think this will be tyquins 5th club in 5 years not bad for 23-24 year old.

While St Kilda City are getting a mention over here seems as good a time as any to mention that our preseason training begins on the 10th of December, 6pm at the Peanut Farm, Blessington Street St Kilda.

We are always looking for new players and it is and exciting time for the club with both our colts team and senior team both going into flag unfurling on a 20 game winning streak.

Any word on Sunshine recruits? Talk on this thread last week that they would be in the position to make some announcements this week? You heard any news CLUB7?

interesting times ahead for the colts the will he,wont he debate goes on about JL coaching i bet if they had there time again they just may of appointed BJ as coach instead of losing him to the yellow bellies or maybe the rock might be an outside chance to do it again watch this space

There is no chance that I'll will becoaching. The powers that be don't want me and that is fine with me. The word from the club is that Jack will be coaching 100 percent. I'm sure bj will do well at sunshine but again the powers to be wanted Jack and got him. It will work out for all involved I'm sure. As I said I'm looking fwd to just having a kick in the magoo's and then coaching in 2011, and I'll take the best available job I can get weather it's in the wrfl or another league. No coaching colts in 2010 though gangster be sure of that.

With Pre Seasons being planned etc, why can't Football Vic or one of the comps organise a two week competition with the Premiers of the WRFL,Northern, Eastern and EDFL playing in a mini Champions League format.Random draw, winners go straight into the Grand Final and the winner gets the prestige of winning the tournament, a cup and some cash.It would be great for the game and I reckon it would pull a sizeable crowd.Any thoughts? P.S Southern league does not qualify as a legitimate competition hence no invite.

In all seriousness. i have been the biggest supportter of the wrfl but in my opinion it is sliding down every year. The sfl has gone past us.
The wrfl player depth is falling away big time and the way the comp has been run over the last few years, we are way behind other metro comps!!
