From what I was told, the coach at yarraville seddon and the umpires approached nth sunshine and left the decision to play up to them. Asking around, the nth sunshine group wanted to play.

The news is the player that collapsed's name is Shaun Wolfe, he suffered a massive asthma attack followed by heart failure. He is reported to be in a stable condition in hospital. So hopefully no need for black arm-bands, but still questioning the decision to play after the incident.

Unfortunately no more news yet. The Herald Sun did a follow-up piece from last week's North Sunshine article(about losing by 401 points) but failed to include this "minor" incident, it even went so far as to say North Sunshine were in good spirits - it makes me sick; more than that of the Yarraville Seddon seniors playing their game afterward it happened. The Herald Sun news desk has been called and a complaint left - so hopefully more news will come out soon.

I'm thinking black arm-bands league wide this week, I'll be wearing one regardless of league decision - if the man did sadly, die.

Please confirm your facts - decision to pay was entirely up to North. Yarravile would have happily called the game off as a mark of respect.

In the words of Weapon, I think your telling Porky Pies.

Cause i dont think think you were there buddy
Or if you were, maybe you dont know much about footy

A) Azza was best on by far and is having his best year by far

B) the above guys you mention about relying on were good but didnt win them the game

C) you would of had to notice alot of new guys there and actually were featured in the best and are enjoy their new club

On behalf of the Spotswood Football Club I would like to pass on the clubs condolences to the family of Sean Wolfe and the North Sunshine Football Club.
There is nothing worse than enjoying playing football then a tragedy like this occurs.

I would like to pass on my condolences to the family of Sean Wolfe and the North Sunshine Football Club. May he rest in peace.

I am currently at the Deer Park Parkside game at Deer Park and I must say I am REALLY disappointed that no arm bands were worn. Regardless of which team Sean played for, regardless of where that team is on the ladder, regardless of his length of stay with the club, Sean should have been tributed to in EVERY game this weekend. This man passed away after playing a game of footy which every WRFL player loves. He passed away after his last activity was playing something he loved. This should be acknowledged and respected.

On a more positive note about the game in front of me:

Deer Park has lead the first 2 quarters of the game, being in front by 9 points at first quarter time and currently in front by 12 points at half time.

Deer Park has had 13 shots at goal and got 7 through, compared to Parksides 16 shots at goal and fluking a mere 4 through. They dont appear to be concentrating on the game and where they are kicking, they are rushing points through and if they took their time to aim, they would DEFINANTLY be in front.

Game is about to recommence so will report back final score once game is complete.

How did other teams in the region go today?

Final Result:

Deer Park - 11 goals, 9 points = 75
Parkside - 11 goals, 18 points = 84

9 points!

Was this a firey last quarter or what!!

Deer Park should have won but Dugan gave Parkside an easy goal in the crucial final minutes by misjudging (and didnt really look to be honest) a quick hand ball off which landed smoothly in the oppositions hands approx 10 metres out from Parksides goals.

IMO Deer Park knew then, they were pushing s**t up hill to win the game. They still fought it out but it got kinda crazy football.

Awesome game to watch though with a VERY interesting result.

How did everyone else go today?

Game called off with 10 minutes to go down at North Sunshine with Wyndhamvale winning by 200 points. Incident occured in the WV forward line with NS bench and both teams coming together turning into a all in brawl. After this, brawl between the fans continued behind the goals before the umpires called the game off a few minutes after the initial fight.

Not good publicity for NS and not a good sight with this being captured by i believe Ch 7 camera man.

Not 100% on the detail but im sure their will be more to come out of this.

Well done on the e mail but really clubs shouldn't need enforcing the wearing of arm bands to show respect. It actually means more if teams wear them off their own bat. Did Laverton wear black arm bands.

By the way what happened at the Laverton/Braybrook game - didn't either side have a back line lol.

Will be interesting to see how the league deal with the matter re points etc.

A few years ago a Heights vs Gladstone Park game was called off with a quarter to go and Heights 10 goals up. The incident was a push and shove involving supporters started by Gladstone Park. Logic would have suggested Heights got the points but the league in their wisdom decided no one got points. With this precedance it will be interesting.

We didnt bomber, i didnt say anything as i thought the leauge, if they hadnt already acted, would of, alas they didnt.

Its a real shame, cos theyve got some really talented kids coming through the 18s. will go close to winning the flag in 18bs, should be in the a's would probably make finals there. They've also got a kid down at the jets who is real gun.

North sunshine are pure scum they deserve to be getting smashed every week

I agree that yesterday's events were unacceptable, but it shouldn't be a reflection on the whole club. They had quite a few good blokes running around out there who clearly loved the club enough to help them out. A couple of players who would otherwise be long retired too! It's a real shame that a handful, (if that many), of people can ruin what was otherwise a good day of footy played in the right spirit.

My advice to the Roadrunners- You've got to get tough on that stuff and weed it out before it devours your club completely. I know it's hard when you're struggling for numbers, but think of the long-term.

Would have loved a beer with the boys in the middle yesterday, but the "incident" meant a few hundred lost over the bar. Disappointing.
