Re: Western Region Football League team

The Spotty player was goading the Colt fans after the final siren - the colt fans had previously given him a tongue lashing when he cramped and came off in the last 5 or so minutes of the game - their reaction in throwing cans whilst disappointing was understandable given the intent of the Spotty guy to "incite" the crowd.

so fans hang shit on player, he has last laugh by winning the flag which he would have great delight in tellin them, they get the shits and throw cans which you think is ok, you are a total fucwit, no doubt not brave or stupid enough to get over the fence luckily, maybe they were busy spittin at umpires and port players.

Get fu.ck.ed colts fans only threw cans at one of the spotswood fans for goading us after the siren had gone. He jumped the fence right in front of the colts goals and gave it too the boys thats why they reacted... Theres no need for giving another team sh1t after they've just lost a flag as if the fellas weren't feeling bad enough as it was!

Get your facts right d1ck.head before you go accusing blokes of spitting on there own team members and throwing cans for a reason not known to ya!

here is an interesting one many a times i have seen fans from all clubs bag players either while they are on the ground, coming off injured or so. I have also seen players do a lot worse in flashing themselves to the crowd. I'm sure all crowds from all teams have been guilty of this. as long as it stays verbal and doesn't get too personal i don't see the problem all part of the game although an ugly part of it. I know the player in question from Saturday and deservingly he had the right to respond back with the abuse he copped. i don't know of anything being thrown at him, but i do know he is now sleeping with a 2007 premiership medal around his neck and was last seen drinking out of a large silver cup. But it will all start again in 2008. Love it!

Re: Western Region Football League team

Is 13cabs ever going to congratulate Spotty after hanging so much rubbish on them throughout the year. time will tell?

Re: Western Region Football League team

Hille is staying on for one more year at Strathmore and they have already signed David Teague from Carlton for next year so the money is still there.
Just on ruckmen our league is at a shortage of quality big men so a good ruckmen could mean a huge advantage over your opposition. Rumour has it that St Albans have already signed a big name ruckman who has played at a higher level, and i dont know about the Kent Kingsley rumour i thought he said he was a chance for 09 and he was having a year off

That's interesting about Teague, my mail was that he'd been offered some form of assistant coaching roll at Carlton prior to being de-listed. If true find it hard he'd line up for the Mores.

I think there was no story and cabs couldn't handle the fact that he was out of the finals and had no attention directed towards him. Come on cabs your very silent over the last few days?

Re: Western Region Football League team

Do the top clubs in WRFL rival the player payments as touted in the EDFL?
Looking at both sides on the weekend, they were jamed pack with big name, big game players.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Of course ill congratulate spotty. actually did sunday night when i seen most of the blokes out, but if it will make ur day that i congratulate them on a football forum then here goes champ: Congratulations Spotty Footy Club, good win, well deserved! Hope that keeps u in ur box for a while now. In regards to the Hutchy story, it was only that i stumbled on Caddy at the Doctors last Thursday, and he looked a bit stiff so i thought he may miss the grand final. Turns out he didnt, so in the end it wasnt a big deal. Hope ur day is complete now DaVinci!

Re: Western Region Football League team

Spot on secure... Like I said the club thought about the avenues to go down to go down to div 2 but wont be happening.
In terms of coaches is about dollars and cents and from reports and the books I was told more than 15k on coaches in 2007. That right there is 5 to 6 decent players.....
Time will tell

chest how will the club look in 2008 ? - will you keep your list if these two go? , I see on the div 2 thread there will be a few departures ? which seems to happen wherever these two coach

Re: Western Region Football League team

Spotty

1. B.Harris
2. M.Keenan
3. B.Kelly
Thats a surprise i would of thought crackers would of won and i think he is raging hot favourite to win the Barry Priest this year.
Harris must of had a great year and i also think he was very unlucky not to get best on ground in the granny.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Congratulations to the Spotty footy club for the gallant win on the weekend. Winners are certainly grinners and full credit must go to Luke and the boys. Whilst on Luke, a big tick must go to the hieracry at the club for looking outside the square in regards to his appiontment. The bar has been set a little higher once again in relation to playing coaches, their worth and value to the "team".

As for the colts boys, only those in the inner sanctum will truely understand what an outstanding effort it was to make our fourth flag in a row. Playing well in them is no subsitute to winning them however but all the same there is a certain satisfaction in making one let alone four.

What does next season hold for all? Lots of water to pass under the bridge before a ball can be kicked in anger. Whats news on recruits etc for 2008? Anyone game enough to pick a top 5?

Good call obe, hurts to loose but our helds can be held high.
TOP 5 NEXT YEAR
COLTS
SPOTTY
HOPPERS
ST.ALBANS
ALBION

Will be close to the mark obviously sunshine will be close but all depends on recruits, the top 3 will keep most of the list together then probably recruits will sort the ladder positions out.
Colts will have mcbroom, wittmar, chisnal, bracken and j.caddy to add to there finals squad but also hopefully josh o'neill will return and maybe a recruit or two but do have some good young talent coming through so we will be up there again.......

Caddy is only colts player invited if in striking distance at halfway he will win he will get 5 bog's in last 8 games, crackers will also be up there but kicked alot of bag's of 4 so may just fall short with other taking votes from him but they did win alot of games.
I did say earlier broadbent would go well but that's a whisper i have heard frosty will go ok and maybe agius but other than that not sure....

Re: Western Region Football League team

Rusty has been invited from Sunshine. Hes the only one. Would want to be a fair way ahead at mid year to be a chance, cos he battled with injury and form from that point on.
Also can anyone from Albion tell me bout Middleton. Named in the team of the year at full back and to be honest I wouldnt have a clue who he is. Did he play against us in the final?

Top 5

Port Colts
St Albans
Hoppers Crossing
Spotswood
Sunshine / Albion

---------------------------------------------------------------------
I have picked St Albans in 2nd spot only because I have heard that allot of players will be going back to the club and also some guys from Bendigo and EDFL are going across and some ex AFL players will be pulling on the boots down there.
West Footscray are going on a Big Recruiting drive also. When they are good they are hard to beat on that Tip they call there home ground.

Re: Western Region Football League team

Its been a long year for all involved at Spotty and a lot of hard work has been put in by all involved, both on and off the field and was all worth it in the end. It was a great game of footy and the crowd were deafening in the last qtr. It will be a grand final that will be remembered for a while.

To the Port guys, you threw everything at us and would have been very worthy winners. You guys probably should have won it but you didnt take your chances but thats footy. It was great to see a few of the Port guys congratulate our boys after the win, it was very noble of them. I also got a few calls from a few players and supporters from Port congratulating me/us on the win. It was a great gesture and we appreciated it.

Our guys gave everything on Sat and for the 3 or 4 days after it. It was well deserved and hopefully we are close enough this time next year to have another crack at it and create our own history from here on, just as Port have over the past 4 years. Spottys 6 Grand finals in a row in the 90's will be hard to top but we will enjoy this 1 as long as we can for now.

If we were giving out medals and votes for the past 3 or 4 days, Patak may have collected a 2nd on top of his BOG Sat. He was in great nick as were Mangan, Szalay, Musca, Waldron, Langlands, Anders, Hayes and even the coach Theodore had a crack.

Not to forget "Stacey" Beazley and a few of the off fielders like Magnet Man, Saddam, The Prez, Bondy snr, Cackles and a few others. I'm sure it's not over just yet with a good crew heading of the WRFL Presentation Nite tomorrow I assume.
