Too easy to single out one incident to blame for the light beer. The biggest problem was violence in the crowd that had nothing to do with that incident. Light beer is the best way to go. Whether crowds are subjected to the 'evil' of light beer is debatable. I'd say the league is saving some people from themselves and allowing families to watch the footy in peace, hopefully. If people don't take responsibility for their own behavior, authorities have to do it for them and 'light beer only' is a result of this.

Well said..
However good weekend of footy so we should talk about that!
back to my other question - Anyone shed any light on the Spotty v Hoppers game.. heard there has been a few reports since the game finished??'
Might give the Cats a sniff if a few from spotty get rubbed out...

I will give everyone a tip, when you look like Tarzan and fight like Jane best you don't fight in the first place and if you do at least tuck your glass jaw in. Your a big 0/3, from the games I have watched this year and you started them all trying to stand over blokes half your size, on Saturday you even went shopping first and still got battered hang up the gloves and boots Jensen.

In terms of the Alcohol only being light beer. I think that is a step in the right direction of the Competition, Especially in the light of incidents, not only in the WRFL, but across the local sporting community.

I myself prefer to watch the Werribee ammos, for the sense that there is no alcohol served until the final siren, therefore, no crowd violence, and standard of footy is also pretty good.

I know bars are the life source to all clubs, and in a competion where its competitive to get good players, which comes at a great cost to clubs.

Maybe a few of these players, need to realise that its a privelege to play for a club, not a right.

Maybe a few pay cuts would be good, to offset the losses over the bar, and the WRFL make Light Beer policy come into affect all season, rather than try and set an example for a couple of weeks when the spotlight is on.

I know plenty will disagree.

would be very hard to control light only beer during the year due to the fact lots of spectatords bring their own anyway,
did notice a few blokes on the heavy on saturday, amazing what you can fit in a pram

Yes you must have been watching different games, that player has been doing that for years now, first to throw the sneak go and then hold his arms up in the air when others come in to even up,espically against players a lot smaller than him.

From what i have heard cannot believe no umpires made any report's,if it had of been a Colt's game they would have been writing them out like parking ticket's and that is no joke i am being serious.

Will the weak as piss WRFL take what happened any further,if they don't have heard Hoppers intend to,think you may find he may be facing assault charges from the Jack's.:thumbsu:

what a game saturday! hoppers looked very impressive but was it spotswood leaving there run to late? spotty did look like they were getting there game right towards the end of the game with more long direct kicks and plently of run. full credit to hoppers they played a better 4 qrts of footy and deserve to still have a double chance.

sunshine were woeful, wind didn't help there first qrt which could have made it a whole different game but again credit to albion they played more direct football and got it in quicker and adapted to the conditions first. Will take a big effort to knock of spotswood at chirnside they will need to get there talls in defence and plently of runners because spotswood play this ground the best of all the clubs.

As for our game, I can't wait! hoppers have had to big cracks this year and have led most of the games, can they run out 4 qrts? we will have our strongest list in to date if i'm correct rock?

Port by 14points
spotswood by 21points

The better team won on the day it always helps to be the underdog imo you have nothing to lose & everything to gain. As for getting the jacks involved its good hard footy stop being a bunch of nancy boys and just build a bridge and get over it.... Lets hope Colts finish the job this Saturday.....

give us a run down from vantage point vicky3013 i didn't actually see the incident but have been told many different things.

now where do i start, nah for me to fill u in i would have to incrimante others would hate to be labelled a squealer.

as for police charges i did hear the supporter informing everyone at 3/4 time,

just curious as to whether most people are aware of the following rule and have any clubs been hit with the fine, laverton has received 5 this year totalling $1900 and not one of the incidents had anything on saturdays melee, which didnt receive one

Fact, like it or not the incident after the siren is the reason for light beer only. By your own admission you did go to the fence and should not have, and all hell broke loose afterwards. If I am wrong please tell me where. We will never know what may have or have not happened if you did not react the way you did, but as a result of what followed all supporters are now being subjected to light beer only.

Spot on, very obvious why we all have to drink light beer at finals this year. Cant beleive Clarke would dispute that.
Ive been to many colts games where i have seen clarke the so called captain coach mouthing off and inciting the oppostion crowd. I have even seen him verbally abuse old ladies 55+ years of age from behind the fence calling them all sorts of stuff. Its a disgrace, should have more porfessionalism about him to ignore whats being said from behind the fence, especially as a leader of a well respected club in the wrfl. Looks bad for club and the league when a player on a first division ground is mouthing back at supporters and threatening them.
Charging at oppostion supporters in the crowd after the game is certainly going to incite the colts supporters to doing the same and backing up the captain coach.
All this over a couple of young spotty supporters taking the mickey out of him after they won the premiership, how bout copping it on the chin? absolute disgrace to react the way he did and incite that trouble.
Nothing better than going to the local footy and seeing supporters giving lip over the fence after a couple of drinks as thats what local footy is all about. Shouldnt be playing if you cant cop it from the crowd.
Cascade lights can thank j.clarke from colts for the extra sales this september!

What a game of Footy lol

Hoppers looked good Early, Very well coached.
The physicality was as good as of seen over the past 5 or so years, Chris Okeefe was clearly Best On Ground.

SFC did well against the wind with it that somehow just butchered the ball.
Beazer played ok, haha he actualy would make a difference in SFC side this year funny enough.

As for the all in, What was douggie thomas doing? funny how everyone has a crack at the pathetic jensen. I am sure for those who were watching or have seen some of the footage it would clearly show thomas throwing the first cheap 1 at a SFC player. No names! Has for having charges laid that would be rediculous.

Its a tough ask for SFC from here, Hoppers will give colts a shake i think the backline is solid and will match up well on the highly rated colts Forwards my Tip Colts by 1 point.

Good to see a bit of biff from time to time.

Well he may not be liked by many, he plays with his heart on his sleeve, he was lucky to play in the grand final a few years back but we lay that to rest. people make mistakes obviousley hes admitted it get the F over it.

Alot of the SFC supporters Enjoy it when he has his say, its good local footy entertainment.

Though playing at the colts would have to be the worst place to play with there following, but what can you do.

What are the chances of Fabian Webb returning Rock07?

So were there any reports or?

Bigfooty is getting more interesting,

Word has it that Parkside are $$$$ up and will make a huge impact next year which is good.

Where will this leave the clubs like Altona n co,

funny isnt it jensen has been criticised on here before for not flying the flag when some of his team mates have gone down then when he does fly the flag he cops it as well, damned if you do damned if you dont

HAHAHAH, Get some facts straight buddy, i'm not the Captain....
Along with many other points your wrong about.
I love the abuse/banter so hope it keeps coming.
Love to know who the old ladies i abuse are or from what club, speak to the sunshine ladies they are the most vocal, they always manage to talk to me after the game, very pleasantly i mite add.
You can add as much fuel to fire as you like, i'm more than happy the way i have conducted myself over 15 years of senior wrfl footy and will continue to be the same, hopefully it continues to upset the opposition players and supporters.

Im not trying to abuse or banter anyone, just agreeing with past posts on why only light beer is available this year at finals.
FACT is YOU incited crowd into that fight by your actions last year. Some young spotty supporters taunting you with chocking gestures was enough reason to approach the fence and start a fight?
Being a sore loser doesnt make defeat taste any sweeter does it?

i have read all the posts re rocks indiscretion, i actually saw the incident first hand from up above, but the bottom line to whats happened now is - was any evidence produced that said that the other people involved were drinking alcohol, no, so why the ban? why before the finals?a directive from the afl?? batties and co sick of late night tribunal hearings?

do the monkeys at the entrance gates have a legal right to check our vehicles?

Were they the same young Spotswood supporters who parked behind the goals drinking heavy beer all day during the game????

Last post from me on the issue.
FACT...I did not incite a riot or the crowb behaviour, i was cleared from the independent tribunal.
Also the person i ran towards was not a child but a former spotswood player who once done a preseason at port colts, he is also a copper!!
Words were said that i'm sure your unaware, nothing to even related to football.
Not a sore loser but HATE losing, spotty were the better team and deserved to win, no shame in losing to a great side.

I'm happy though for you to think i did incite the fight and that i'm a sore loser....your entitled to that!!

Let's talk finals this year.....colts or hoppers......spotty or albion
What's the latest on injury and reports???
