It's always dissapointing that some miss out but our selection of the team tonite will not be that difficult. As for spotty if willi don't take anyone they may only have 1 change if any at all.

Good luck to young Kain Williams, great kid and a very handy footballer for his sake i hope you get up.

Clarke and Sevens out as they are too old and slow, the younger players would step up to the challange.

Spotty shold be unchanged.

All the best to the port colts boys on saturday, you have been the best side all year boys, just the big one to go!!!

From the boys at south melbourne districts!!!!

I heard the cobra's coach is taking over the dragons any truth to the rumour and a new coach will be appointed tonite at the cobra's

All the best to the colts and spotty in the big one on the weekend. Have been the two best teams all year (for the last three years now) and their GF spots are deserved. Colts have the form going in however the lure for three straight will also be there for the woodsmen.

For what its worth, colts by 19.

Douglas is also my tip for the medal. Proven vote getter in this comp, had a RED HOT 6-7 weeks through the middle of the year and some good rusty like games surrounding that patch.

They are predicting warm weather tomorrow so i think Spotswood's fitness will be a telling factor, pretty much same as last year, great game with Spotty running over the top of Colts the last 15 mins.

Anybody know who got invited to the comp medal?? I think Milesy did from Hoppers and Sinnott and OKeefe from Spotty. I reckon Danny or Okeefe will win it and Douglas up there aswell.

Good luck to both teams tomorrow. Should be a great game.

These are my thoughts on how it can be won and lost:

Both teams have the 2 best midfields in the comp so both forward lines should get enough chances as they will go head to head in the middle. Ports mids have more of a defensive mindset than Spotty as their mids are the hardest forward running midfielders in the comp. McGhie dominated last week and hit the ball into space for Sinnott, Theodore and OKeefe to run into. He wont have it all his own way against Julier and Port will hurt them going the other way if they start running forward when they arent winning the ruck and hitting it to space. Port are harder around the stoppages and Spotty will have to match them in this area or Port will get 1st use of it.

Both defences are very good and rarely get big scores kicked against them. Port cant bomb it in long to their forwards bcos that will play into Spottys hands as they have Mangan and McGhie down there who are hard to beat in the air. Port have to use Mangans opponent as he normally picks up the 2nd or 3rd best defender and zones off to help out the others. The Spotty forwards have to put alot of pressure on Ports backs as the run very hard from the back line. They have to follow their opponents down the ground and not get lazy or they will cut you up.

Both teams also have good forwards who can kick a winning score. Spotty proved over the year that Molan, Hucker and Dumbleton have kicked quite a few goals but I think that Port have got better forwards in form atm and I think their small forwards in Winters and McAnaulty have the edge over Spottys small defenders. Im just not sure if Spotty will kick a big enough score to win it. 2 of their midfielders kicked half of their score last week and its unlikely they will do that again.

Obviously these comments are based on what I have seen in the games when we have played these sides.

Port are the form side as you said Trav but my gut feeling is that Spotty will get up. I have absolutely no idea why though. Not that I care who wins.

Good luck to both

Not that i care who you tip michetti but i'm curious to know why people seem to think Spotswood are so much fitter than us(Colts)

I think this is myth cougar, a few blokes in spottys team carying a few extra kegs at this stage you blokes will have no dramas in running all day, i saw it first hand and that bloke on the wing (heffernen i think?) is an out and out gun dont know where you find these blokes but they keep popping up at the right time of year.

We hide them all year then let them off the leash in finals lol

Heffernan played in last years gf and played very well too so has been around for a couple years now:thumbsu:

Fair summary beazer, just wondering who you think mangan will take or who would be our 3rd forward.
PERKINS
MACGREGOR
HOATH/JULIER
DEBRUYN
CLARKE
I don't think he could afford to zone off any of our forwards, mite be able to do it against most teams but if we use the ball well going fwd none of their defenders would be able to zone off.
I also agree with you about our small fwds no sablich for spotty this year and we gain winters, so we have a slight advantage their.
I feel if we can brake even in the midfield we will win the game, our backs should be able to cope well with spotty's fwds again no simpson or keenan to support molan and our defense is stronger. I know spotty have a different set up with smalls, this is where our pressure skills need to come to the fore.
Just wondering also if spotty people think jensen will be missed, i'm sure his physical pressence would have been good for some of the spotty's youngsters, and no doubt it will be very physical and willing tomorrow.
Good to see the willi listed boys are playing for spotty, just wondering if the selection commitee kept bond for puhar....i doubt they would of!!!

I would send him to Perkins, he is a game breaker and someone that is in possibly the best form during the finals... I think Noye will play bigger and take one of the bigger boys! whoever Mango plays on I would be telling him to lead and lead and lead, do a Riewoldt and take him up HB for a kick, as long as you're making Mango work he will be beaten.

No idea who he will take. Id just play him on whoever is at CHF otherwise Hoath or Julier if they go deep. Id keep him up around the play.

The big donut Ray will be missed. Like him or hate him the team walks a little taller with him and those grouse stickers out there. In sayin that im not sure who he would play on if he did play.

Should be a cracker and I do agree, if you can break even in the middle you will win.

Your prediction of to who will win may end up being correct but let me tell you 100% we will not be beaten on fitness. We all train our 2 nites alot during the year we were training 3 nites and all the boys have been doing boxing 2 or 3 nites a week also. In my 7 years the colts side has never been fitter, i think our last result winning the semi final by 74 points against the most inform team and winning every quarter.
Spotty also are very fit and and run hard fwd and back, this will be a great contest and may the best team win....PORT COLTS!!

What about the midfield...Will B.Kelly go head to head with D.Jacobs?? will he tag B.Jacobs with Sinnot, he has been a very good offensive player for spotty of late.
Will twomey/massis go head to head with o'keefe and theodore.
We will neeed make sure theodore, sinnot and o'keefe's influence fwd of centre is limited.

Again I dont know but I doubt they will tag anybody, similarly to you guys they back their mids to beat the opposition and its hard to argue why they shouldnt. I doubt kelly will go with DJ. Sinnott started the year as a run with player but now opposition clubs are running players with him. He has surprised me to be honest. Im sure Colts are fit enough but those 3 Spotty mids are as fit as any midfield group in local footy. This will be an old fashioned shoot out in the midfield I reckon with everybody running forward and Id expect them to all rack up the touches. Will be great to watch anyway.

Rock you would be licking your lips if Kelly went H to H with Danny he would tear him a new one. Sinnot will not tag he was too damaging running forward against us and o'keefe well he is like Danny no point tagging him, you just can't stop that class.

Will be a cracker tomorrow i will be listening to it as i will be back at our club hopefully celebrating 18's and reserves premierships.

Good luck to all participating.

Perkins - BOG

Colts - 45 points

Hoppers - 20 points (L.Mcintosh aka Strauchneee) BOG 2's

Hoppers - 18's - 1point

Beaza to be BOG Mad Monday.

Deer Park would need way more then 3 or 4 guns to beat altona stalbans and would still get no wheer near sunshine. if glen orden play football which they really do then they woldnt beat them either.

Yess we want to play footy and we would smash Deer Park if they came up !
