Just drew this up in paint.

Thoughts?

This is great! Bring back the monogram! They're traditional and a lost feature of the culture of the code.

As for the name of the side and its colours;

West Sydney Rebels.
Do the knowledge.

This ties in well with the heritage of the area. If the guernseys are green, white and orange (of some shade or another) this gives the nod to our celtic past, the many, many Indian residents of present day Western Sydney (have a look at the Indian flag - it's spinning wheel is also a symbol of rebellion) and the colours would be an original combination in the competition.

Slap the monogram on the front and sell that shit!

Two points:

1. Not sure if the club name will be West Sydney; and
2. The new Victorian rugby union team will be called the rebels - but if that name doesn't end up getting used, might be a good one

I don't mind the monogram either - might still get used as the name Sydney Wolves

I like te logo, and having a mythical creauture as the mascot.

However the guernsey lets the proposal down, Stripes and V's together just looks like a mismatch cause you had ran out of ideas, then to make it worse, the alternative has stripes, v's and a yoke. It just needs a sash and you have all the basic AFL templates in one.

I definately have not run out of ideas, it was just an attempt at breaking tradition. I also was not thinking about the usual design elements and that I have used just about all of them (it was an accident). Also the 2nd clash guernsey (with the dark top), was an edit of the first one after someone said that there was not enough dark blue in it.

But on to the process I went through in designing the guernsey (to give an idea why I did what I did).

I initially tried just the stripes, then just the v's but both guernseys looked very plain and uninteresting (this was with the WS logo, not the griffin), so I tried the combination of the two, which I admit is not a common combination and definately breaks away from tradition.

As for the back I initally had just the plain back but once again I did not think this was very interesting, then I tried the stripes making it look better but it didn't work with the numbers so I added the yoke to have the numbers stand out more than they did.

I t may still seem very busy and have the use of most design elements but when you think about what the team may require to get the younger people of the area to move away from other sports to the new team, inovation is something that they need to do.

If the team just went with stripes or v's then comparisons to the swans or kangaroos could be made as both have played games in the west to try and get support with mixed success.

So yeah it is just a concept that tries to step away from the traditional that may be seen as being boring and too traditional for the youth of the west.

also there's a touch of North in it

That was just coincidence, it happens with using blue stripes, but it wasn't deliberate.

Yes you mention a guernsey, but the way I read the post it is more of a discussion about the team colours and the name of the team, that fits more with the Team colours/moniker? thread.
