I like the monogram, with a bit of colour I can see it being accepted. Can't see what they'd have against it anyway. Maybe put it with craegus' gold and blue design?

My point was that with there being a team with a 60 year history in the west of Sydney using a WS monogram already I doubt GWS will go down that route - unless of course it is a GWS monogram.

The problem with the design is it doesn't really work with a bar (see below).
I can see your point about a V (with the relationship to Victoria) but V's are common place in NSW (several NRL teams have them, either current or heritage) so it really would not send the wrong signal at all.
LIKE IT
I agree blue is the logical colour scheme i think the gold distinguishes it nicely from other teams. Its a shame that gold or grey or silver are missing from the www.nametheteam.com.au site. I feel that all the colours they have there are too bold when in fact more tones are needed.
Noones talking about 1962 - it's now east of most of Sydney. It's certainly not part of the "GWS" area that the new team is targetting, no matter how many stupid comments get made about Bevan.

A SydneyAFL side called Western Suburbs with a WS monogram and an AFL team called Western Sydney with a WS monogram 20 minutes further down the road and the original team isn't going to crack the shits? I reckon they might. That's my only point. I like the WS monogram idea just not sure Western Suburbs will. Why piss off one of the oldest clubs in NSW when you are trying to get a foothold? Meh, Westies may not even give a shit. Was just throwing it out there.

Had a feeling there was going to be a new merged comp involving ACT/NSW/QLD sides...? Could have been a David Lynch moment though.
Hadn't heard about it, but it sounds like a pretty good idea if they can work the logistics.
Here's something a little different I posted in the jumper forum.
I personally think GWS should go green & I think this logo and jumper could also work with the Giants nick name from the suggested 4.

I love the look of two tone Blue, Two tone Green with White, or as silly as this sounds, Two tone Black.
With Port moving away from the Arty Farty stuff I think the day is dead of the new aged designs and we are back to simple, bold, old school jumpers!

Well the tiges and pies are playing but I can't watch it, so thought I'd have one more go at a strip. I've basically cobbled together a few of my other designs and played around with colours (again). Wolves are more fun to draw so I'm really hoping they go with it.

Let me see... Sydney have the Opera House in the logo, and the Harbour Bridge is a few hundred metres west of there, so it's good for West Sydney, right...?
