Grand Final Day Live Site – Steampacket Gardens, Waterfront Geelong – 12.30pm until 6.00pm
If you don't have tickets for the big day this is the next best thing! Watch the 2011 AFL Grand Final broadcast at the Steampacket Gardens Live Site. Bring the family or a group of friends, pack a picnic rug and enjoy the day with other supporters. Catch the action of the broadcast live on the superscreen from 12.30pm to 6.00pm. Geelong Cats merchandise will be available for purchase. Proudly presented by the City of Greater Geelong and supported by 95.5 K-Rock and The Geelong Advertiser Group.
Unfortunately I've got an induction for my new job on Grand Final day and I am going to miss the first half at least 
When I went for the job I told them I was a big AFL fan and they still schedule it for Grand Final day
Partly my fault though because I missed the original induction for last weekend.

You'll love this Shell, I actually could go if I wanted to, but I'm foregoing it and will be watching at home. Will be trying to educate my 5 month old on the finer points of the game.
Plan A: At the MCG.
Plan B: Probably Kardinia Park, watch it on the big screen.
Definitely wont be at home- there's always other options if you dont get tickets to the actual game.

Jesus, I reckon I havent been front row for a game, since those early years back in the nineties, when there was hardly any reserved seating and it was "first in best dressed"!!!!!!

I was living in Geelong for '07 and '08, then in '09 just had a BBQ with some friends here in Adelaide. If there's nowhere decent to watch it here then I guess I'll just have another BBQ. Probably not too many other die hard Cats supporters around these parts.

Got the tipping/grand final party at my place, lots of booze n food... fingers crossed a win!
I'm holidaying at my parents place in Warrnambool. I'll be leaving Newcastle at 1am on Sat morning with the wife and kids and driving direct to Seymour and checking in to a motel at around 2pm. I'll get there just in time to watch it on a poxy motel tv.
For someone that has lost out in 4 ballots you have managed to get into 3.
Don't even bother entering next year.

Watching it with mates. Just about everyone except the one Collingwood supporter will be on our side, so it should be a fun day.

The Lion Hotel, 161 Melbourne St, North Adelaide.
The owner is a mad Geelong supporter and puts on a big function for the Grand Final every year, but when Geelong are in it (which has been 4 out of the last 5 obviously) it's usually very Geelong themed with the Adelaide Cats supporters group turning up.
I went in 2008 as I was unable to go back to Geelong like 07 and 09 and apart from the fact that we lost, it was a great function with a good atmosphere for Geelong supporters. It did suck when Hawthorn supporters turned up in droves halfway through the last quarter and right through to the conclusion of the medal presentations just to rub it in. This may happen again so be warned!
I wasn't sure if they were doing it the same this year as they did in 08, but I called up earlier today and they assured me it's going to be just as big. I will be getting along at about midday so I have ample time for a feed (the burgers are awesome) and a few pre game frothies to calm the nerves. I highly recommend any Geelong supporter in Adelaide to do the same if they have no other plans or are looking for a great establishment to watch the match from.
So my attemot to find a ticket isnt looking too good.. Anyway, being in Sydney I was told the Swans club is good for Grand Final day. But its closed....
So I was just wondering, people in Sydney, where do you plan on watching the game? I have friends that will come and watch it but they dont wanna get there till about 5 mins before it starts and thats just not fun when your team is playing..

I feel your pain my friend.. I am in exactly the same boat. When my brother's best mate and very close family friend of ours for best part of 20 years, and his soon to be missus who I have never seen eye to eye with, announced in late November last year that their wedding was on October 1st 2011, my jaw dropped in shock.. but I must admit given the tumultuous end to our '10 season I didn't think we'd be figuring majorly in the pointy end of the season this year.
Fast forward 10 and a bit months, leaving the 'G last Saturday and walking over to the Cricketer's Arms for a couple of celebratory prelim-winning frothies with my Dee supporter best mate, the hideous fact suddenly dawned on me.. for the first time since I was 8 (I'm now 31).. I'm going to miss the Grand Final.. and not just that, I'm going to miss possibly watching my beloved Cats beat my most despised team of all time in what is quite likely going to be one of the best GF's ever.
Here we are at 8:30pm on the Tuesday before the Grand Final.. and I am actually seriously considering cancelling my invitation acceptance, not to mention, wondering what the hell I was thinking accepting an invitation to a Grand Final Day wedding in the first place.. especially considering well over a year ago I joined a Facebook group titled "No, I will not be joining you at your Grand Final Day wedding".. not thinking for a second anyone I knew would actually organise one.. Would I be the worst person in the world if I rescinded my acceptance this late??

Should have posted it in here first, but anyway, does anyone know if they'll be showing the grand final at the punt road oval on the big screen like they usually do? Can't find any details about it.

From a girl.... I cannot understand why people plan weddings etc on GF day. I would never do it.. Even if i didnt follow AFL, I still wouldnt do it..
