What do you want out of season 24?

I think we need to win 2 of the Sydney, Suns, Giants, Collingwood and Essendon games and win the rest to make the 8, 3 to finish 5th, 4-5 to make the top 4

5th almost preferred to 4th to avoid playing Sydney before the GF
I would back us in against Sydney in Sydney.
Rather that to a Semi against Carlton or Collingwood at the G.

Really? I think we’ll struggle against Sydney while we shouldn’t be scared of the G

Play Sydney in the Gf and hope their lack of experience shows like ours did last year
Personally I think the smaller grounds like the Gabba and Sydney we would be more likely to hold up their run imo.

Would much rather play a home Semi Final than than a home Elimination Final, regardless of the opponent(s). A home Elimination Final consigns us to 3 consecutive weeks of travel, including potentially Sydney in Sydney anyway.

Playing them in an away Qualifying Final has the potential to be a blessing in disguise. It would mean we would have played them twice in basically a month, both home and away, giving us an ideal preparation for meeting them again in a Grand Final, even if we had to do it the hard way.

We want Sydney and Carlton to keep winning. And all the rest to begin losing.

Both play, I think, 5 teams relevant to us between now and end of the season.

TBH if we did finish 5th or 6th and Bombers finished top 4 and you get Bombers week 2 of finals...I mean...not the worst outcome.

Essendon has a pretty interesting fixture from here on out. We will really get a sense as to whether they're good enough. Our rd 24 match against them could actually be meaningful for both teams.

I just can’t see us finishing higher than 4th or Sydney finishing lower than first or us beating Sydney at the SCG. 5th will allow us to avoid them until the GF which levels the playing field to some extent and will see us with the experience advantage

Of course if we do finish 4th we’ve probably shown the H&A season form that we can challenge them wherever.

Unlike last year we’re probably not getting an ‘easy’ prelim final but who knows maybe that’ll be a good thing

Absolutely; get into top four and who knows, if we were to win, that then means a home PF and then a win there gets us back to the big dance at the G.

Assuming the crows hold on in the last 90 seconds, we will be one win behind third with superior percentage and 8 games to go.

We are going to be inside the 8 at the end of the round as well.

We need to death ride every other side between 2nd and 12th

Only problem is it's difficult to decide which teams to death ride

Out of Swans vs Freo, Essendon vs Geelong, Port vs Saints and Crows vs Giants it was the last game I expected to go our way give us a top eight spot.

Has there ever been such a close ladder this far into the season.

Dockers(3rd)/Bombers - 38
Cats/Magpies/Port - 36
Lions - 34
Bulldogs/Giants/Suns/Demons/Hawks(13th) - 32

Clashes between these 11 teams will be pivotal over the rest of the H&A season.

Next round > Port v Bulldogs, Magpies v Bombers, Cats v Hawks.

On squiggle if you do the autotip we fluctuate between 2nd and 13th. It’s wild.

5th also preferred over 6th, as I think 6th could mean playing Swans at SCG in a Prelim: I thought the Swans might be due for a loss and was hoping it was in about 3 weeks, not yesterday against one of our main competitors for 5th.

We are one win off fourth so wouldn’t write that off yet.
Freo have a fairly easy run home so I can see them holding 3rd.

Yes not ruling it out, but at this stage have a loss against Sydney and Pies at the G and the Suns are going to be hard to beat at home a week after we play Sydney and we are off a 6 day break

8 weeks ago, top 8 was my aim for a struggling side.
Since then, we have won 6, drawn 1 and had 1 loss.
The problem with having a slow start to the year is a loss or two puts you back in the pack fighting for the 8.

Top 6 would be my aim and achievable with our present form.
To make top 4 we really need to win 6 of the remaining 8. Even that may not get into top 4 depending on other results.
I could make a case to winning 6 but that's more hopeful than what will happen.
I think we must win against the Crows, Eagles, Saints and Giants.

We are currently sitting eighth. Just looking at the next 2 weeks fixtures. IF* we beat Adelaide and WCE, then we should be ahead of 2 of Essendon, Collingwood and Geelong (unless Coll are beaten by both).
If PA don't get a win in Carrara, then we will be ahead of them also.

So without looking into any more permutations, that puts us in 5th after round 18.
