What if they have the same percentage & points at the end of round 22 and also that they have played each other twice this yr with both being 1-1 with 1 point victories against each other?

Next step after tied percentage ....

- countback of the matches played between the two sides - first win/loss ratio of games played during season and if still tied for/against percentage of matches between the two sides

if still tied

- clubs have the option of either - a one match playoff or a toss of a coin - clubs have the right to choose the option and if they do not both agree the AFL will choose the option

Yep it's true, i remember there was article last year in The Age discussing the possbility of it. Quite astonishing, so much at stake over one coin toss.

Would you go head or tails?

Personally, heads always wins:thumbsu:

Idiot. Always call tails.

Is that seriously how it is decided? I suppose you cant have a mid-week game beacuse you would be screwed for the actual final. Although what are the chances for the two teams to finish on the same number of wins, with the exact same percentage, and with the same H&A balance (i.e. both sides beat the other by 1 point)?

Not sure if it's true but apparently thats how channel 7 & 10 were going to toss a coin aswell to decide who gets to cover one of the grand finals.
Yeah but the loser gets to televise the next one. It's not like the loser of this coin toss gets automatic entry to the finals next year.

Minson vs Mooney, ringside.
Could be as entertaining as the two games this year.
Mooney would kill Minson. On the way to the ring Cam would come in with a quick punch to the kidneys then headbutt him when he's trying to stand up.

What is the next contract for the tv rights. I thought it was 5 yrs with one of the channels to get to host 3 of the gf and the other 2.

i believe it comes down to their head to head throughout the season

But what are the chances of having the exact same percentage if we're talking two, three decimal places. For that to happen they'd need exactly the same points for/points against.

Would be funny nonetheless, hope it happens haha.

And for that to happen, the cats would need to concede an average of 25+ goals in both of their next matches - and win.

Not that it matters now (unless the Bullldogs draw next week), but wouldn't a one match playoff push the finals back?

The Dogs are one and a half games ahead of Geelong, so even if they draw, they can't miss out on finals.
