What is a fair trade for Kurt Tippett?

I would want at least a half hearted, over priced, overrated injury risk who is not a natural footballer but can take a good contested mark whose kick is 50/50 and who will hold the club to ransom

Tippett was well beaten by one of the best fullbacks in the league in merrett and is over-rated to demanded a first round pick pick 23 is all I would give up for him it's still a pretty good pick you could still get a really good KPP player at that pick
We're going to get more than pick 23 as long as both Brisbane and Gold Coast are interested in him, assuming he only wants to return home. Last year Brisbane offered their first round pick but we wanted + Polac/Redden. That was after he had a terrible year (well two), this year he has bounced back as seen in the first half of the year (back to his 09 form). He has taken a hit with him getting a few head knocks which could be a case to argue to get him cheaper although I don't buy that it's that serious myself if Adelaide are willing to offer him a 5 year contract as reported.

Interesting thread with some different trades suggested. Last nights game is meaningless as far as his value goes, it was his first game in 2 months basically and we all saw how Goodes dominated on his return from a long layoff. I'd suggest that next week probably won't be his best game either but those couple of games should help blow out the cobwebs.

I agree with others at the moment at Gorringe being part of the deal and it may just be Gorringe and a second rounder. I'm not sure Day wants back to Adelaide where rumour abounds that Gorringe does, so I just don't see Day being part of the deal. Personally I would be stoked if we got pick 2 for him but that would require Brisbane to put their first pick on the table and GC having to play it's hand.

Still, both clubs in QLD could use Tippett to get away from the bottom of the table so it may become a bidding war which will push up his value.

And I think this post shows how little you know about football if you're willing to judge a player based on one game.
Last nights game just confirmed that he is over rated, a bit like the Crows actually.

Steven May is proving to be a better forward in tonight's game than Tippett was last night and against a better defense.

Keep him ( if you can talk him into staying in Adelaide, not likely) as I wouldn't give you a netballer for him.

He is overrated. Was his first game for four weeks and he played on Daniel Merrett who probably would be AA if he played FB for the whole year.

Why did Gorringe sign a extension to his contract then?

Interest article in the paper today up here, saying basically because of the Fevola debacle the Brisbane board has to sign off on any multi million dollar contract offer.

Probably some juicy extensions going the way of Rich, Redden etc.

Gorringe was rumoured to want a return home a couple of days ago, despite re-signing last year.

I think it will be a bit of a circle for us.

If Tippett goes, and McKernan stays Gorringe may request a trade to us. Same deal if the reverse occurs.

If Tippett stays, and McKernan stays Gorringe will go to Port or stay at GC.

If Tippett and McKernan go (unlikely), we're f***** and will have no choice but to throw the chequebook at Gorringe.

As Adelaide don't trade fair, hopefully Karma train is well and truly on its way!

Ha! Still a bit poopy over letting Jacobs go are we?

Considering he was your 4th string ruckman you got a pick 33 and 67 for him. We reluctantly traded Maric last year for pick 37 (which we on traded). Both have been great this year and were traded for similar draft picks.

I'll give you a three way trade

Kurt Tippett and Tom Swift :)p) to Brisbane with a pick to go to the Suns
Daniel Gorringe and Scott Lycett to Adelaide
West Coast will take Daniel Rich :D Wishful thinking....

FWIW i wouldnt be to sad if we got a Ryan Harwood / Callum Bartlett out of the deal. Good young midfielders. Harwood's ferocious at the contested ball / clearences (where West Coast has been struggling of late) Bartlett has had 2 knee reco's i know but Brisbane get Swift with 2 reco's who Vossy rated highly as a junior

Brisbane get Tippett and a midfielder who if given a chance to cement a spot could be at least hald decent
Adelaide get 2 top up "home town" ruckman
West Coast get another midfield option. If its Rich than thats beyond jizz worthy :thumbsu:

I tend to agree that Tippett is over rated based on his stats. However, he isn't being thrown large amounts of cash for nothing. He straightens the side up, brings other players into the game, can ruck in the forward 50 leaving Jacobs to hang outside the 50, takes the best defender, helps lock the ball into the 50 etc. If Brisbane had Tippett this year they might have made the 8.

You should write story books for small children.

GC will not offer Pick 2, no chance of that happening unless the Crows are going to give up someone else as well?

I'm sure they would. I think the chance of a number 2 draft pick even getting to the point of being offered would be because of a bidding war and even if it was, I'd imagine a proviso of a player ( because I'm not thinking our first rounder will cut it...hope it does but doubt it) will come into the equation.
