It’s just the ferals hanging over the race, same as every team has after a loss.
I was there on the other side of the ground and I heard nothing but stunned silence, people trying to comprehend what the eff had just happened.
From the little I could bear to watch on tv the rest of the crowd was the same in disbelief.

Just on this “ Bulldogs have a top four list” it really depends on what list you are talking about.
The jack Macrae of two years ago is not the Jack Macrae of today.
The Bailey Williams of two years ago is not the Bailey Williams of today.
The Alex Keath of two years ago is not the Alex Keath of today.
The Taylor Duryea of two years ago is not the Taylor Duryea of today.
Josh Bruce, VDM, crozier, McLean …..
I could go on but you get the picture.

Bob murphy is the most overrated player in dogs history. He was a decent to average player with 2 stand out seasons.
Skilful and balanced, not a hard man but didn’t shirk contests and played as an undersized KPF in the Eade era when he was more suited to a HBF. Bob Murphy was a very, very good footballer!

Article on club’s website

Western Bulldogs key forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan has been recognised in the final 2023 AFLPA 22under22 team.

Ugle-Hagan is one of three Bulldogs to have made the cut, joining Cody Weightman as maiden inclusions, and Bailey Smith who has achieved a fourth consecutive appearance.

Ugle-Hagan was also the second-most popular player included, featuring in 88% of fan-voted teams, following his impactful 11.4 average disposals, 5.3 above average marks and career-best 34 goals for the season so far.
The 21-year-old was named at half-forward.

Smith, 22, featured in 75% of teams, averaging 23.5 disposals (elite), 3.5 tackles and 3.6 clearances to be named on the interchange bench.Weightman, 22, has averaged 10.3 disposals and 2.8 marks to go with 32 goals, earning himself a spot on the half-forward flank.
The Bulldogs’ trio also marked the second-most representatives in the final team, behind Fremantle’s four players.

Collingwood’s Nick Daicos was voted captain, while Hawk Jai Newcombe was voted vice-captain.

Christ thats a heckuva snub for Jason Horne-Francis

I think if you look back in this thread or others it was posted as a video - old news now.

OK. Now I understand the lunch more. I did not realise the coaches were there and I didn't realise they had actually done training beforehand (so my other half tells me).

Rather than a bad look after a bad loss, it was a carefully orchestrated "bonding session" mass media covered ploy to tell the fans all is well at the club.

I still think it's weird that we have to demonstrate this to our supporters. Just get it together on the field people.

No during-season bonding session says everything is fine. It’s actually acknowledging there are issues and it’s trying something to help.

It’s just come too late, that’s the biggest issue. 4 of the last 6 weeks we have lost by under 10pts, the 7th week ago being 12pts. Reverse all or most of them, we are top 4 or just behind going into the final round.

We are bizarro Collingwood of last season.

What is he saying.

Bevo needs quality & solid assistants behind him & he needs to change his whole game plan style as well as how he deals with media.

Also said that while Bont is obviously great ambassador for the club & spoke well yesterday, he would have liked to have heard what responsibility the players take themselves, particularly in the last 2 weeks shock losses.

Someone said we're the Tigers of 2016 - I wish.

Granty, Bev and now Murph … have I missed anyone ? .. it’s eat your own week at BF Bulldogs.

Murph was my favourite player from the start of his career to the end .

Timing doesn’t help that Aker is now going off in the media about “two-faced” Bob Murphy’s comments on the homophobia thing…when it rains, it pours.

That's what they had for lunch yesterday....with fava beans and a nice chianti

I think a lot of people resented the fact that Murphy was intelligent, articulate, creative, had a high emotional IQ and thought about life outside footy as well as in it. He was not what AA footballers are supposed to be. It made them feel a bit insecure, I suspect.

Maybe we had too much of a good thing when he got his own regular column late in his career but that's hardly his fault. I'd rather read his refreshingly different take before Barrett, Wilson or Cornes. Every day of the week.

I remember meeting him in his first season with us he was signing autographs, got bored and started writing Ryhmes aswell.

Yeah the top 4 list is absolute drivel and mostly perpetuated by the hardcore Bevo haters. The team from the weekend featured a bunch of vfl level guys and rejects from other clubs, and its not like there are any superstars at Footscray busting the door down. Top that off with the Smith and English who are about half as good as the hype, and sprinkle it with with an underdeveloped Darcy and voila! A middle of the road team.
