I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

I dunno, you seemed pretty bullish on Reid.

'Heeney but beastier' or the love child of Petracca and Heeney would be awesome and definitely justify pick 1 - but I will wait and see until he plays a few games first imo.

Maybe it's an argument about the definition of absolute confidence but I never confidently predict any side would be top/middle/bottom in two AFL seasons - a lot can change. I'd be interested to know if you correctly predicted the Hawks and Tigers dynasties for example.
Heaney hasn't lived up to the early hype IMO. He looks too comfortable. By now he should be dominating the competition.

The way it looks, Draper is the only one of the top prospects who is uncompromised for us. He's even smaller than McKercher who looks a gun in his own right.

Why would we not trade F1 this year to just land McKercher. Land a gun and put an extra year of development into him.
Sure, Draper could improve even more but he also might slide back. McKercher looks a safer bet. Seems a no brainer to me.

* Smith could possibly be a stablemate but you'd want to be sure of the friendship.
Again...Would he be better than CM?
BC mckercher is as much a flight risk and anyone. Tassie in 4 yrs.

We need to get Schoenmaker at 19, he’s incredible. No idea why anyone would want us spending such a high pick on Curtin when Schoenmaker is also available later in the draft.
A modern day Quinten Lynch but slower.

Sorry, I wasn't aware that you were a qualified psychologist and could tell he'd be a one club player, mate.

Let's just be rational about this:

1. He looks good. If Tasmania weren't entering a team in the comp in a few year's time, I'd probably cough up F1.
2. It doesn't matter how earnest he is right now. The better he is, the more they will come for him. And they will offer money that we can't match. This is not a player going home to Melbourne or Adelaide. It's a player being asked to be part of history. He's potentially spent his whole life wishing there was a Tassie team. The AFL will also push him to return home.

So he can be the most loyal person in the world, but might still go home. And we can't call it disloyal either. Not heading home is just as disloyal as heading home.

If we had pick #2, I'd take him over Curtin and take the risk. If he wasn't from Tasmania, I'd probably cough up F1 for him. But he's from Tasmania and he's a serious flight risk. The chances are, there will be someone just as good next year who isn't the same flight risk.

You need to check your temperature, because it sounds like you've come down with a serious case of FOMO.
Your username seems very appropriate...Bit of a sandy response that one.

No, I'm not a psychologist and in fact, I probably need one with the amount of time I spend on the draft/trade board.

You can however get a feel for a persons disposition by watching them interviewed. This coupled with the fact he said he'd go anywhere and is a very loyal person by nature, it doesn't take Sigmund Freud to draw a conclusion.

Worst case scenario, we lose him but we'd get a raft of picks for him as the AFL would look to help the new team. It's a win/win imo.
Of the top 5 next year, I think they're all VM apart from Draper...I'd back in the Tasmanian first.

He does lumber a bit, doesn't he...Looks to have a decent nous though and runs to the right spots I think.
No idea. Would disregard his champs performances given Allies dominance at stoppage.

I don't agree with that but each to their own. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out in 4yrs.
Our club is very good at retaining talent.
The main issue for me is that the AFL has in no way clarified what that looks like in 4 yrs time.

If it's like when Goldcoast and GWS came in then I dare say clubs will be/should be skittish.

If the AFL can make a call on what it looks like prior to the draft then you're be more comfortable about the decision.

For all the talk about Reid being a flight risk here in Victoria, there has been deaf silence of whether Curtin or the Tassie boys are are flight risk for clubs. Curious.

Watch Adelaide before the draft.

Sid Draper. Potential top 5
Tyler welsh FS

They're chasing our future first. What permutations could we squeeze out of them?

I’ve been saying this for weeks. Part of a deal with GCS than give us GCS pick 4, Adelaide our F1 and GCS a tonne of points. Obviously other pick swaps to balance it all out.

I get the angle of your dangle, I just dress on the other side.
We're powerful and proud club, I'd back us to retain a top talent. No point worrying about what could be I think.

Why would they clarify it 4 years out? Highly likely to end up like the reserve governor. Get sh*t canned for changing things because it no longer suits at that point in time

I think you can just assume it will be the same or similar as GC/GWS right? Why would it be much different?

This is huge if true, we'd want to get paid very handsomely for our F1. Something like 4, 9 and Adelaide F! next year

He's average defensively and a touch slow. Also by not having that speed and being a touch on the short side for a KPD he's really pigeon holed into being a third tall and his failings mean he might not make it at AFL level at all. He does read the play well and is a very, very good kick with great penetration. I think he would be a very good pick for a club who has some more defensive key pillars in the future.

Is Curtin anything more than a third tall, though?
