I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

Good one. I reckon people involved with player management companies know as much as anyone and my info might be a fantasy that I’ve just made up but we will see what comes out in regards to Harley over the next few days.
What about the 'next few days'?

Trade period isn't for a few weeks and Reid can't announce a club of choice as that's draft tampering.

Reid is unlikely to ever be worth more than he is now. Infact he’s probably going to be worth significantly less.

Players have the power to choose where they go, and the receiving club has little incentive to ever pay more than the minimum they can.

And that’s assuming he’s a gun without injury troubles.
Not with 2 years running on an initial contract.

Thank you.

Edit: and infact I’ll leave you with this. I heard from a Bendigo family last week, who has a relationship with a person related to the Reid’s that they will all move to Perth. And that’s nothing media related.

So let me just get a few things straight, not only is norf getting pick 3 for a B-grade spud like Mckay, but they are also getting priority access to top 10 prospect Sanders under NGA rules, and at the same time the AFL for some fu*king reason is willing to, behind closed doors, jeopardise the integrity of not just the draft but also the comp by forcing us to trade pick 1 to these tin fu*kers. If you guys want to pick 1 so bad, should have just tanked your last game you dumbasses:drunk:

North won't get access to sanders for free. AFL will make them match any bid.

If you had pick 5 you're bidding on the Larke medalist and second best mid in the draft.

For north to match pick 5 on points.

1800 -20%= 1350

They will need to split pick 16 into 2 lower picks with more points to match.

So will end up with 2 3 5 39 53 59

Which is still outrageous.

Essentially 2 x top 5 picks and the only loss is a average or very slightly above average key defender.

2,3,5 in a single draft is potentially legacy building (I know lol Norf) levels of capital

Sure he can’t select a club.

But he could easily say something like ‘my aim coming into this season was to play well enough to be selected at pick #1, that aim hasn’t changed and I’m still resolute in doing all that I can to be taken first in the draft and then getting stuck into being the best AFL player I can be wherever that is in Australia’

I don’t expect him to though. As anything he may say has more potential to be draft tampering rather than helping in any way. Better off being quiet externally and speaking behind closed doors with recruiters

Ah, my mistake, sorry.

But regarding the salary cap it’s often hinted that people in the coterie groups of other clubs have entered into private arrangements with players to enable retention. Do you think that sort of stuff still goes on?
How do you think Geelong stayed up for so long with very few wanting out for more money elsewhere?

With the cost of construction of homes around Australia going through the roof it may be over but quite a few players traded to Geelong and kept on underpaid contracts got some amazing houses at very cheap prices.

Yeah at least Twomey was dismissive of the go home factor and said Reid would go anywhere. Said if he was the Eagles he'd just take him.

Yeh I think Cal is all over it. He realises it would take something silly for us to move the pick, which is why he only mentioned North as a trade scenario if they have pick 2 & 3.

Thank you.

I’ve actually heard it’s not Harley who doesn’t want to leave home, it’s actually his family who want to be able to continue having him close by.

I’ve also heard that if West Coast draft him, his family will also move to WA.

I’ve heard the same thing a couple of months back.

Twomey also reckons it’s between Hawks and Bombers for McKay. Can’t see Hawthorn triggering band 1 given they have the following pick so I think pick 3 is still very much up in the air.
Twomey also thinks Sanders is off the table altogether and thinks it would be pick 11.

On one hand, imagine having your parents follow you across the country. I moved to the east coast at 18 and would have been absolutely mortified if they came along.

On the other, and without knowing anything about his parents or what they do, the prospect of landing high paying jobs at an Eagles sponsor like BHP or MinRes might be appealing. And they might be independently keen on coming over like all the other east coasters.

On the other, other hand, this is probably totally bullshit.

Which gives them 11 and 14 to trade up to gold coast pick 5.

If this happens we should offer suns F2nd and 35 for 11 + no bid on suns academies.

They shuldnt be able to trade the pick even to move up to 5, it still really screws up others plans and is a total injustice to the system.
