I've had enough of all of these kents already.

Nothing would satisfy me more right now than drafting H.Reid and watch him kick a bag against the tin-rattlers.

And anyone else wanting to entertain splitting the pick in this massively compromised draft needs to give themselves an uppercut as well.

Agree TP#9 with what you have said I am firmly in the draft Reid camp.

The Club also needs a positive boost, a pick me up if you will, after several shyte years, I think that Harley Reid would provide such impetus.

Give him the # 9 jumper and the sales & marketing department gets a boner 💦 :eggplant:
It’s what I dream of every night.

Missus thinks I really want a motorcycle.

Honey, we need to talk.

Lot of pressure to trade.

We absolutely don’t have to. We have pick one and the choice. The only ones who can take it off us is ourselves.
Let us not be tricked or trick ourselves.

Were we able to pick up Bobby Hill and instead traded down and picked up the two plodders O’Neil and Foley?
Correct. The Norm Smith medallist.

Loved Jagga Smiths game, the kid has it all: Skills, smarts, awareness and poise.
He will have recruiters on high alert, classy midfielder who is dangerous forward.
Yes, my early preference for our first pick next season.
Just needs to work on his upper body strength IMO.

To preface, I am 100% in the keep pick 1 camp.

I think what is also an added element here is that if we end up with pick 2, we won’t pick McKercher.

If you were to say we get McKercher, 14 and 19 for Pick 1 then I wouldn’t be as b***hurt. However, the lack of faith in our recruiting team means all I’m foreseeing is a whole lot of it.

Would the club trade pick 1 for picks 2, 19 and 25/27?

Because that is what trading piece 1 for picks 2, 14 and 19 may push out to be once academy/FS bidding, FA compensation, and North's priority pick come into play.
There’s almost no one on this board that would accept that. Let’s hope the recruiting team are of the same opinion and tell North and the AFL to shove this manipulated situation up their arse and the Allen Aylett medal goes to the next champion #9 in the royal blue and gold.

Exactly right.

Hopefully our recruiters consider this when doing any points calculations. Actually, hopefully they wouldn't be considering the points at all because hopefully they would.... just pick Reid.

Points make zero sense for us anyway because we can't make early bids on academy players and have no Father sons coming through.

He averages 8 clearances a game. There’s no way he’ll be stuck on a flank. He’s too dangerous in the middle
Toby Greene if playing full time mid would be one of the very best in the comp. But what he does forward is more rare, and thus he is more valuable there. He is most certainly not stuck on a flank

If we get two top ten picks, one of which is in the top five (ideally pick two), I won't be gutted... In fact if it ends up two top five picks I think we're coming out on top.

But it must be said it's an exceptionally blatant case of the AFL trying to manipulate the competition so their next shiny big thing stays in Victoria.

There is no way this shit storm happens if Reid isn't the best underage player since at least David Swallow. There's no way it happens if Reid is from Adelaide.

In a regular draft pick 1 is unlikely to land you two top ten picks. There is no chance you get two top five picks.

But this isn't a regular draft. The clubs message to the comp (in particular north, who have the deaft capital) should be if you want Reid, pony the **** up.

What we say here doesn't matter, but I really hope that's what is happening behind closed doors.

If Nth ponied up with pick 2 & 3 which I see as very unlikely I would take it.

McKercher at pick 2 and Duursma at pick 3 would be a no brainer.
McKercher the best pure mid in the draft and Duursma the best Forward that can pinch hit in the midfield.

Duursma started the year fairly poorly but his last few months have been very good.
33 goals for the season at 2.75 ave and 19 disposals a game is a very good return for a medium sized forward.

In fact Sheezel ave 19 disposals and kicked 36 goals last year at 2.6 goals a game. Duursma is actually a tougher match up when forward his marking is far superior to that of Sheezle.

Of course Sheezle hasn’t played as a forward this year though so that needs to be considered.

McKercher has been spoken about a lot in here so no need to pump his tyres up but as a combination I think they have Harley covered. It’s the only deal I’d do otherwise take Harley.

Agreed, and I would say not just unlikely but absolutely never going to happen.

We all know the AFL want Nth to improve and also have marketability, but no way they ratify them trading away the 2nd/3rd and 4th best talents in the draft (Walter being either 2nd or 3rd) for 1 player.

And the thing is if they acquired picks 3 (compo) and 5 (gc trade) and offered 2 + 5 then we would still have to seriously consider whether that would work out for us (basically do Nth take Sanders or Curtin at 3… we could take McKercher, then Curtin, Duursma go next 2 picks. Sanders will be great but that is starting to become a little unbalanced).

I just can’t see a crazy (2 x top5) offer being allowed, and Reid is exactly what we need. Ideally ROB in negotiations takes his stance on Gettable - keep going (as the offers escalate).

I'm not worried

The pitman would of seen alot of Ried in the past 2 years and already stated that 3 top 10 picks wouldn't be enough.

But if NM offer pick 2, 5 (via GC) and a F1 (pick 3 to 5)

Then take it

Heard before longest kick yesterday, Pickle eyes as my kids call him - Jon Ralph said current Bombers bid on McKay wasn't going to get Norf pick 3. But Norf would simply just match then. So was on Bombers to up their contract if they want him.

Dodoro won't go for deal that gets Norf pick 3, got me thinking what dodgy deal will they come up with. Do Bombers ensure pick 3, but on proviso Norf hands back pick 19 or one of Future end of first rounders.

I may have misunderstood (there’s been a lot of s**t talk on here) but I thought you said not too long ago we’d be pretty close to taking 2,14 and 19 if offered? Geez if they did offer 2,5 and F1 even I would take that. McKercher, Curtin/Sanders and a gun top 5 mid from next year. In saying that North did lose a lot of close games this year and I wouldn’t be surprised if they rose a bit higher than many expect although not enough to finish 13th or higher

If north match the bombers bid and the bombers walk away, is McKay obliged to take the north deal even if it’s less than what north were allegedly offering initially?
