What to do with Stephenson

I think this, he also has good hands and can take a grab and good on the lead. Hi pace is key, he only needs a small opening. I don't look away when he has set shots, feel comfortable that it will end up in the right spot.

Looking forward to seeing him out there next up.

Hopefully he gets a run Sunday against the Saints but wouldn't rule him out of R1 either way. We do have a history of playing guys R1 who've not played a preseason game, just on trust of the training they've got under their belts and faith in their ability.

Haven't heard much on why he was pulled last minute from the Tigs game, it didn't sound like it was a physical thing so hopefully OK to go against the Saints.

Close.
It starts with a P ;)

I wouldn’t want to judge him on one game but he seemed disinterested today. Hope he’s OK.
No definitely not, but he
Strikes me as a bit of a downhill skier. But perhaps that is his role...just to be on the end of it. I would much rather he build some Elliot type skills, an ability to make your own way and win your own ball.

He’s coming back from glandular fever, no?

It’s a practice match, folks, so it’s a step in his bid for full fitness and touch round 1.

I agree, we might have to manage our expectations with Stevo. He is coming back from a long way and also missed the last game due to personal reasons.

He might not be where we'd like him to be fitness wise ATM but he is good enough to command a spot even if not 100%. If it all goes to plan he will build into form as the season progresses.

Can't let that one slide! "Downhill Skier?" You must be joking mate. This kid is the real deal...he's a cold blooded killer. He's not as fit or as prepared as he'd like to be (ATM) but he's got a burning desire to be the best in the land. Let him recuperate, get him fit and healthy and just watch him go.

I hope so, and at times I think you’re right...more often than not. There are games where he floats in and out, and games where he is entirely absent save a goal or so on account of being the quickest man on the field. Let’s put that down to being a youngin

Be interesting to see if he plays the VFL practice match this weekend to get some more run in his legs.

I am worried about a few of our players, but I’m not at all worried about Stevo. His health and betting habits permitting.

How could you forget his impact in his first season? How he helped transform our forward line? He is one very talented natural footballer who is still a kid and coming off an illness. Give him a break please.

Such a dangerous forward who gets on the end of so many half chances to take marks inside 50m to have shots on goal.

Excited to see a mid/forward rotation involving JDG, Stevo, Elliott, Sidey.

Keeping two of these forward is dangerous with a floating WHE inside 50

I would suggest it has less to do with age, ability and application, but more to do with his role and the football gods.

Sometimes, particularly as a forward, you just can’t get near it, other times everything you do just turns out gold.

I remember a couple of games I played where didn’t matter what I did it just worked out right and I looked a legend. Horribly out of position, not problem play screws it off the boot straight down my throat. Miles behind me player, no problem ball takes a Leigh Brown bounce and I am all alone in the goal squared with the ball. Didn’t matter what I did and what miraculous thing I tried it just worked. Another day I was snapping goals out of packs like a Peter Daicos, half were even touched off the boot but none were ever call.

They were few and far between but some days were just gold.

Other days the exact opposite. Ten metre out in front on a lead. Player kicks a simple 20 metre simple pass and sits it on my head. Defender takes a screamer on my shoulders. Balls bouncing every way just not to me.

Some games it just happens, some days it doesn’t. This kid is talented, it is just a question of his fitness at the moment.

This club's injury history or player unavailability is becoming a sad joke. Taylor Adams walking laps, Treloar does a hammy, Beams is gone and it appears Stevo is going to miss a few with a fracture or break. I read a VFL report which said Stevo was the only senior player out there and of course he is the one who gets injured. Greenwood, Varcoe, Reid, Langdon and I think Sier (concussion) all unavailable and the season is yet to begin. Richmond once again have a 100% fit list as we speak. How can we expect to contend when this injury curse shows no end in sight?
