Gotcha.

I don’t mind it really, I prefer the long socks rolled down look personally but that’s pretty minor. I do hate however though that players aren’t all wearing the same stuff.

I especially hate how the Crows have different socks for home and clash kits, and players constantly wear the wrong ones. Some of them even go odd socks at times. Just looks unprofessional.
Our players don't look good, we're very untidy. There was an old saying "If you can't play like a footballer, at least look like one". Andrew Dillon needs to knock this look on the head and make a playing attire rule.

Gold Coast Pirates would have been ******* awesome. Most 21st Century sporting nicknames are putrid and often impossible to make decent mascots and logos out of.
Gold Coast Sharks or Stingrays would have been better. Some aquatic and intimidating fish. One AFL team should have taken Sharks as a nickname.

Players being allowed to take full 30 seconds for a “set shot” when outside 50. I think it should only apply to marks inside 50.

If you are going to kick it from outside 50, by all means. I just don’t think you should get the full 30 seconds only to pull out the “set play” kick to the goal square. Or, if that’s too difficult, if you decide that you are going to take the set shot from that distance and it falls short, it’s play on if a player from your team marks the kick inside 50.

In general I think umpires are fairly lenient, but sometimes it’s pulling the proverbial when you’ve got guys that can barely kick 40 look to take time off the clock

Set shot for goals are my least favourite part of footy. My other unpopular opinion is that they should only get 15 seconds in general.
Maybe allow three 30 second timer outside 50 shots per game. That rule is too arbitrary how it is.

Bit of a history with Southporth Sharks that, er, didn't go well with the AFL upon entry

I thought my opinion of this would change when I had kids, but alas it has not.

Get rid of the Auskickers presenting the medals. Or don't make such a big deal when a player forgets to shake their hand. It's a bigger moment for the player than the child. They shouldn't be at the pinnacle of the their profession and copping hate for forgetting to shake a 6 year olds hand in the moment.

They should make the opposition player they played on give them the medal.

It was ok at the start when the kids were mostly unnoticed.

But the AFL just had to take it a step further didn't they!!

Before Nick Daicos was called Hamish said 'here we go' into the mic and I just knew something had been set up, We see Nick walk up and surprise surprise it's a kid in a wheelchair.

Was the Selwood thing staged last year? Now selwood is heavily featured in ch 7 broadcasts.

Did they think he had a slight popularity problem?

Mind you it’s better than danger obviously thinking he’s the next big comedy act

Much more likely that you're clutching at straws due to an existing bias.

They've been mic'ing up a couple of kids and forcing them to say something nice for about a decade.

Don't have kids but agree with this one. The kids get enough air time at the brownlow and just playing on an afl ground.

It's the one time that afl players get to truly celebrate, let's not force them to be polite while little Timmy spews up some line the afl has fed them for the sake of tv.

I don’t have any issues with Auskickers doing it, but yeah we need less hate on players who are obviously happy and just have a slight moment where they celebrate instead of giving them a hat. the kids that miss out get the hat later anyway

Wow some peoples perspectives are really wacky and out of touch with reality. Imagine taking away from those moments that if you don't get a hat and an interaction means you "missed out" Lolol

If I got to put a medal around the neck of an AFL premiership player as a 6-8 year old I would probably have been on cloud 9 for the next ten years of my life. Just the fact I was in the same television frame forever as them as they receive a physical recognition of one of the highest achivements you can receive in sport would be a high honour. If I heard someone spouting crap about me being disrespected I would have defended the player. They have the right to take THEIR moment to celebrate it how they wanted.

My moment is getting to even hand them the thing. Blokes worked hard for ten years to get there... GTFO with the entitled criticisms.

In fairness to one of the legendary post-match (and pre-match for that matter) class performances by a winning captain, I think it was a by-product of Selwood having 12 years to think about how he'd play it, if he ever got the chance to win the premiership as captain.
