It would add enormous interest, and kill the tanking model, but for a variety of reasons it just would not work.

If we were to institute it, it would actually massively derail attempts at equalisation (good players would be even less willing to sign with clubs with relegation potential).

Maybe one day when AFL is really big and really rich and even the 2nd division is well paid english football style. And I am not even sure that ever happens.

It was really my dastardly evil plan to get the mighty Borough into the AFL.

  1. McGuire has been a toxic influence on the game.
  2. 18 is the outlier number of teams that should play in the Comp. One of the Melbourne based Clubs need to go.
  3. A promotion relegation system for the Melbourne Clubs would add enormous interest
  4. The fixture is a product of Vic bias.
"One of the Melbourne clubs"

Come on, old bean, we all know who you're talking about....

Fyfe's poor kicking in his only GF is not a myth. It cost Fremantle a flag. They could have broken hawthorn in that first quarter.

I agree with you about gaj/bud clearly being on top though. By a long way.
Crucial misses for sure but they didn't cost us the game and it didn't stop him going on to be our best player after Mundy.

Letting Hawthorn get so far in front and then either kicking behinds or kicking it to Brian Lake in the last quarter cost us the game.

No reason there can't be. Women have just as good vision and judgement as men.
Exactly, I’m not sure how many female field umpires there are in the lower leagues but there is surely one that is good enough to step up to the challenge of afl

IMO Pavlich is your best player of all time.

The constant theme of Journo's branding a player(s) in the draft as ' the next Dusty Martin / Patrick Cripps' etc.

Does my head in......

There are generational footballers in the draft every year...

The McClelland trophy is a joke. Dees go out in straight sets in both seasons amd get rewarded while Lions make both grand finals and get nothing. Plus the farce that is fixture inequality makes an award for only home and away results ridiculous.

Include the finals series in the trophy, that way choking and going out in straight sets can no longer be rewarded over performing come the most important month of the season.

Thinking about it, possibly not an unpopular opinion but I've not heard the issue raised.

Finals are completely irrelevant to this award though.

Yeah completely irrelevant, I mentioned that. But it shouldn't be. At least it used to be awarded to the minor premier, I could cop that. But this year it goes to the club that finished 4th and 2nd after home and away and I assume both finished 5th after finals. What exactly about that is trophy worthy?
