What would a Dutton Liberal leadership mean for the Liberals and the country?

Pretty hard to when the entire media actively delivers LNP party narrative.

The media is not anti Labor
Labor just delivers a poor message.

For example the voice should have been a slam dunk, but Albo should have got the YES vote across so much better than he did. If he was trying to sell a TV to a customer Gerry Harvey would fire him within 24 hours.

Howard entrenched a 2-tier system with the introduction of the Medicare Levy Surcharge and 30% rebate on Private Health Insurance.

That's the pre-cursor to gutting the public system and forcing everyone into the private system.

It's conservatism 101. If there's a Govt program which is very popular. Step 1 is to under-fund it and wreck it so people stop liking it, then introduce a subsidised private version which people have no choice but to accept.

What are the odds the LNP introduce a privatised version of the NDIS?
Privatisation of natural monopolies and essential services is the world's biggest scam. Dutton would love to privatise lots, but knows he probably wouldn't get much through the Senate.

I do wonder at what point capitalism is just going to collapse in on itself. I don’t think it’s far off.

People can’t afford to live as it is, young people can’t afford houses.

AI is going to put more & more people out of work.

Not much point in the wealthy continuing to hoard wealth when there’s no one left underneath to buy anything. I think the big reset of some kind is coming.

The rebate was needed to keep private alive; but people now know that if you get really sick private generally sends you to public anyway

So is Private Health Insurance a waste of money?
If the cost is less than the lifetime health tax no
If you anticipate needing elective surgery no (you queue jump)
But it is useless for emergency (government regulation prevents private ED costs being reimbursed and no I do not understand why) and many privates lack ICU if your elective surgery goes wrong.

And yes I have private (largely for the first reason + dental cover)

I pay $134.88 per fortnight. I'm with HBF. I have top cover.....top hospital cover and top extras cover. Thats for a single.

In terms of a "bang for buck" I'm losing money but I have Private Health Insurance in case I have something medically that comes up. I also have ambulence/emergency ambulence cover too.

Is that ambulance cover as part of the hbf or separate (ambulance member)? And I suppose consideration is given to how likely something is to come up and what type of urgency it would be - as a young (under 30) and single it would be maybe sport related trauma (eg acl) that you get benefit vs public; that and avoiding the lifetime loading when you get older

More than “absurd” and “lazy”, it’s an effing disgusting move by a man who has no respect for anyone and feels he should be able to just BS his way into the top job without any scrutiny.

Casting suspicion over the professionalism of the CSIRO, and accusing Chris Bowen of dictating scientific outcomes, is as cheap as dead rat on a stick.

Ambulence cover is part of my Private Health Insurance. I added to the insurance many years ago.

I have private health purely due to the fact it works out neutral from a Medicare levy surcharge perspective. Medium hospital coverage and extras.

As a healthy 29 year old I didn’t anticipate needing to use it but I busted my ankle playing footy and required surgery.

The excess from the health fund was $750 which is fair enough. The waiting was quick after I made the decision of just a few weeks but the cost certainly wasn’t $750. All up it would’ve cost $1,800 as the surgeon & other practitioners had ‘gap fees’.

Has Abbott asked Dutton why they are blocking labor’s changes? No cos he did a similar thing with Gillard.

It seems libs are happy to have the ‘problem’ continue so they can rabble rouse

It's MAGA on the Brisbane River with Dutton these days.
