What young player do you want to see be given a massive opportunity this year

Brent Macaffer - 22 games plus finals.

Ben Reid will need to earn a gig in competition with the other key backs.

Blight I would like to see get a taste at some stage but doubt he will hold a spot down yet.

Ben Reid should be at the top of everyones list. All the other guys mentioned we have good enough players for but a Good CHB or even CHF week in week out is what we need.

McCarthy Macaffer Rusling will be given a go if they are fit but Reid was fit last year and wasn't given a real go. Play him for the first half of the season at CHB and unless he is shocking just keep him there and let him find out the difference between VFL and AFL. If it turns out he shows us nothing then we know to look elsewhere but we aren't going to know unless we give him a good chance.

And who do you leave out? Presti - who was in the top 3 performed full backs of the year last year (was in the AA 40 man squad) or Nathan Brown - similarly young and if you left him out would be the topic of this exact thread next year (and we'd then be getting a bit circular.)

Jarrod Blight for sure. But realisticly he won't play much this year more probably next year but can't wait until his confidence grows and he gets bigger he could be very special. Loved some of the stuff he done in the vfl especially going back with the flight of the ball taking marks in the hole. You can't teach stuff like that just really courageous.

Has to be Ben Reid.

I think J-Mac will have a big influence this year, but I have no doubt he'll be given plenty of opportunity.

I think Macaffer may be brought along as a midfield tagger. Has a very Lingish like TAC Cup background.

SIDEBOTTOM!
Been winning the time trials and moving very well. Has got 10 or so games past him and is ready to play every week. Saw him at training looks to have put a couple of kilos on and is primed to go!

Dale Thomas.

About time he came good. Enough of these excuses everybody made for him last year (i.e. he was playing a defensive role and his value to the team was more than observers can appreciate). He was apparently so valuable that Leigh Brown and Alan Toovey beat him in the B&F. . Alan T:eek::eek:vey!!!

He's a 2nd overall pick.

He's young.

He's gotta be given a big, massive role (i.e. attacking midfielder and matchwinner) or given the chop.

Agree with this. Thomas has to produce offensively and consistently. Enough talk of turning him into a tagger, playing him off a HFF or HB flank. He needs to become a class midfielder who kicks goals.

Ben Reid, for the first 11 rounds plant him at centre half back and give him key roles on Reiwoldt, Franklin and Fev. The first half of the year is pretty favourable, we play alot of teams (besides St.Kilda, Hawthorn and Brisbane) with no powerhouse forwards. Just let him learn on the job, he will become a great asset to have come finals if he is allowed to develop in the seniors.

!00% agreement. Ben reid is ready for the big time, Nate Brown and Presti will compete for full back.

I'd say Brad Dick, but unfortunately he's going to be out for half the season. Instead I'll go with Macaffer, hopefully he plays more games than not next year.

Goldsack. I really like him and would love to see him geta good shot at a potition to call his own. Just maybe 5 or 6 shots in the same positiknand I think he could produce...

I was not aware he was injured. What is the problem?

LOL....I don't know how I missed that. Bugger.

I would like to see the american dude get an AFL game..

Yeah, I would too. Shae feels it is his job to lose (which is a great attitude - in my opinion). I think there will be some great buzz when he plays. I know he got intervied in the States before he left by a sports newscaster, which should be airing probably at the end of January.

Disturbing display of complete over-confidence if true, but it does really appear to be symptomatic of the culture of the American elite sporting system.

Geez I hope Shae isn't arrogant or full of himself - I really want to like him.

I'd have to say McCafe. Looks in fantastic shape and has shown glimpses.

I agree with you. He's strong over the ball and composed when he has the ball in hand. I'd also love to see Reid given an extended run. The other one, and I know that very few people will agree with me, is Corrie. I've just got a feeling that in the future very few people will admit to having been Corrie haters.

Macaffer, the kid will smash it this year. I think if Medhurst has more injury worries then Caff will make that role his own and will kick 30+ goals.

Hopefully he's got the tank to run through the midfield in bursts as well, he's got the body size already just a matter of if he can keep up with the pace.
