every one is just worried coz strath will be the power houses of the competition in 10 years time. They have the best junior base in bendigo and with strathfieldsaye community enterprises on their back will never be short of cash. South and sandhurst will go bust because they dont have their own ground which is why they wanted to relocate. doesnt matter if strath only win 2 games in their first coz its all about building for the sustainability of the club

1. These days, any club can be a powerhouse with 10 years to work on it if they have the right committee and supporters, so this is an invalid comment. By the way, from your opinion, with all the so-called cash flowing out there, you would want success a hell of a lot quicker. Watch all the support and sponsors drift away if it took 10 years to be successful!

2. S'saye CE funds cannot be used for player payments - it's for the COMMUNITY and projects to benefit Strathfieldsaye, not the S'saye FC. Both the SCE and Bendigo Bank would cop a public relations flogging if that ever happens.

3. Sandhurst members & players publicly and privately voted against a move, so it appears you're just shooting your mouth off with this comment.

south and sandhurst did want to move but strath said no to their conditions

Haha!! That's funny!! 28 players signed and you don't know one name??? Either there aren't 28 players or there are and you are too embarassed to name them. Which is it? What are you hiding from?

i wouldnt laugh, mounts are screwed, only good players are all too old and are nearly past their time, farming will need to be good this year to buy a team

What planet are you on?? South members said no, but Trev Forbes went public and said he was in favour of it... but at no time has Sandhurst or its president ever said they wanted to go. It was even in the local paper and everything.

Strath never wanted to merge with anyone. Look back through the posts on the Bendigo FL thread kooka, it's been discussed over and over.

obviously they were keen on merging after holding several meetings but both teams couldnt get what they wanted so they went alone

Nice one kookas, but you're still avoiding the issue, mate. Who are the 28 players???? I wish Strath all the best, not out to shoot them down, just interested to know who all these players are we keep hearing about. Surely you could name at least 10 of them, if not, 15, 20 or 25 of them?

You would have to be joking, can see a year of massive floggings and then like Lockington off to the Heathcote League

OK time to put all the inuendo to rest... The facts are:

1) S'saye Community Enterprise funds are not used in any way shape or form for the footy Club. As Dr Noisewater rightly said these funds are used for any capital developments within the S'saye community, which can include any capital development around the new rec reserve (such as lightning which will be installed by Xmas according to CoGB).

2) Re: Sth/Sandhurst merge. This was a bit before my involvement with the Club but my understanding was that no formal meetings were held with either party, it was all channelled through the media (Addy). Sth made one approach to the Jnr footy Club, but this was well after the S'saye community decided to form their own senior footy club.

3) Player signings - 28 have signed to date. Not sure of all names but Pedrotti will be assistant coach. Not involved in the Club player recruitments so not privy to this info.

4) Successful team ?? Not sure - only time will tell but it seems to me that they are plenty of knockers on this forum on the establishment of the Club. Call me insane but I would have people would embrace the fact that a new footy club is being formed right here in Bendigo. You need tradition and history to win a flag ? Well tradition needs to start somewhere and for Strathfieldsaye it began in 2007. Even Port Power and Adelaide Crows won flags inside their first ten years in the AFL after starting from scratch so it is possible to win a flag without having 100 years behind you....

Coaches confirmed so far at the Storm are:

Seniors - Clint Whitsed
Reserves - Have appointed one, TBA
U/18's - Paul Hingston

I believe that there are 28 senior players who have signed to date with the Storm. Not sure of names.

Storm have a meet the coaches day next Sunday 23rd November at the Strath Complex from noon for any interested players.
Heard yesterday that they had appointed one last week and let him go on the weekend. Surely one of the shortest coaching tenures in history!!!!!!

Ben 'Ballsack' McLeary's no Hack and all of about 22-23 too old....
Trev Douglas no idea on his age but would be under 30 and from what I'v seen his a handy enough footballer. Plenty more young players out there that are handy enough...... you dont need a long neck to be a goose.

It looks like Gis, Square and Eaglehawk will not be as strong in 2009 as this year. It really opens up the door for the whole competition. It may be the most even the BFL has been in a long time.

Tryell is up in the air as per usuall this time of year.
Dahl is having a crack at Port Melbourne in the Vfl.
Fiske along with Mackavale & Stringer are training with the Bombers.
Wild and Diss are being sort after by a few minor league clubs.
O'Toole im not sure about, are you refering to Mat or Lochie?
Davies- doubt he would leave , live with Holdstock and has some pretty good mates at Square plus is touted has a future captain.
