Sound like a broken record b/c I've said this before, but S'Saye were NEVER interested in a merger, so even if the Bloods or Dragons wanted to merge, it would have been knocked back by the S'saye committee & members.

From what I have heard Ken is on the money - Strath were never interested in any merger talks - hence the reason they formed the club/committee in the first place ! Forbes was prob right in trying to open negotiations for the sake of his club - but Strath weren't buying it. By the way now that Strath has been admitted into the BFL, does anyone know what colours/logo/identity they will be known as ?? I have heard maybe Strath Power - is this true ?

My question regarding Strath is when are light towers going to be installed at the ground and who will be paying for this?? Lights are an extremely expensive commodity and I presume that Strath won't have this type of money laying around. Without lights they can't train so this is a MAJOR issue for the club. The other issue is the size of their ground. Does it meet VCFL standards in terms of size??

Does anyone (goat) know why there is night finals? It can't be just in the hope of drawing a larger crowd. There must be other reasons.

Does the powers at be at the BFL think they will get the spill over from the other leagues?? Does anyone think the crowds are bigger at night than day? Its not the bloody gold coast where the weather is nice and balmy at 8 at night.

And if your out there Goat - did you predict that Maryborough would finish last this year? Lets hope your flag tip is a little closer.;)

Looking at the forecast for this weekend, they are talking about 23 degrees for Saturday, so I think both sides will be happy to play Saturday night as conditions should be perfect.

I went to the game last Saturday night and spoke to a number of people who had been out to Huntly to watch the Heathcote v Colbo GF as well as come in to watch the E'hawk v Gisborne clash. It is hard to compete with the district leagues as they have much bigger followings and the BFL crowds aren't going to be huge no matter what time of day they are played. The LVFL GF is this week also.

The first year the league tried the night finals they were a success as they were fortunate with good weather and I guess it was something new, which is why they have continued with them. Good on them for having a crack at it, but like everything else it will be reviewed after a period of time.

I guess teams like Gisborne probably don't like them because of the travel factor and how late you get home after one of these games!

Billy I would suggest that Saturday nights crowd wasn't too bad. The crowd looks a lot smaller than out bush because it doesn't have that ring of cars. If you reviewed the gate takings you would find the BFL always takes more than the outer leagues for the GF. Even over the past 3 years when the weather has been crap. Get a 20 degree day next week and the crowd will be a bumper.

Yep, i must admit (after questioning night finals) the crowd was pretty good on Saturday night. No doubt the weather is the key but i still believe crowds would be better during the day. Imagine how much beer would be sold this Saturday afternoon if it does reach 23 degrees.

I still reckon i'm good for at least a dozen cans on Saturday night anyway.

Whats that , 1 can for each hotdog?

danny 0'BREE to coach Strathfieldsaye Thunder??????

Danny 'Breeza' O'Bree?? Spoke to him about it at his bucks show a while ago and the midget got a little angry over the whole thing, tells me his staying in Mildura but after bombing out of the finals up there he could be on the march back here.

Also strong rumours from the north central league that Dayne Frew and Brady Childs will be playing with Donald in 09

Shock-waves have gone through the Sunraysia league with former South Bendigo Coach Danny O’Bree being told he will no longer be required as Coach of the Mildura Football Club in season 2009.

O’Bree who is currently in the process of trying to sell his Mildura based Sports Co business is keeping his options open for next season although he said it was unlikely he would remain with the Mildura Football Club as a player.

Great win by the blue and gold bulldogs from all reports! The team was written off by basically everyone only 2 weeks ago and now find themselves in the grand final, anything can happen from here! Go Square!

Lets Go SQAURE!!!!

Whoa - what happened Gissy? well, it should be a cracker crowd this week then... being that both sides have a good following, and they're both local.

I think it's supposed to rain a bit, but E/hawk v GSquare will be a great game.

I read in the paper that Marcus(i'll hide in the forward line) Barham resigned.
So who is your tip to take over the raines.

With a decent on field leader Gisbourne will be back in the mix you would imagine.

Is Elliot a chance?

Luke Saunders would be my tip. Ty to assist.

Is Shaddy coaching Wycheproof???

announced yesterday, on CVF.com

South Bendigo defender Marty Shadbolt has been appointed Coach of the Wchyeproof Naraport Demons for the 2009 season. Wchyproof managed just two victories for the season although Shadbolt was confident that a few notable additions would see the club rise again. ” We will be looking for some key position players with some stronger bodies as they already have a good list of kids so if we can get them along with a couple of good midfielders we will be pretty happy” said the new Coach.

Shadbolt will remain based in Bendigo where he will look to have one training session per week."
