Sorry Bish - was red carded for the last week for calling somone a peanut. This is late but Congrats to Eaglehawk. After Ollie kicked the 1st goal of the last the game was over. But full credit to Filo and his team to fight so hard. The beat Gissy 3 times this year and are deserving premiers.
KA How would rate the gisborne side that played in the granny this year compared to the previous 6 years?

Whats the word on Castlemaine for next year?? By the sounds of things they will lose a few. Are these new coaches they are chasing any good in Fitzpatrick and Jorgensen???

With Martin gone to Talbot and from all reports Lachie Brown to Maldon are there any others looking to move??

Eaglehawk keeping Filo as coach. Will Matt Gretrix hang around or head back to Charlton next year??
Jorgo has coached a BFL premiership side at KFlat and also in Sunraysia. Great football brain, wonderful communicator and would be a worthwhile acquisition for any club looking for a coach. Fitzy also been around for quite a while but I still thought he was on the VCFL board?? Interesting news to hear Shane McCarty has resigned from north city was on 3BO this morning. Anyone know anymore about this last time I spoke to him he seemed fairly content and looking forward to next season.

I'd highly recommend Simon for the Castlemaine job, he took Lancefield to 3 straight grand finals from 2002-04, winning the third. Has coached numrous premierships and has a lot of contacts. Worked at Eaglehawk this year I believe. Is the best country football coach I have seen in this district.

Can someone please give me an update on the radio situation in regards to football in Bendigo.
I am a former Bendigo footballer who now lives in Adelaide and I've heard that 3ccc are about to be closed down and that there will be no more footy on the radio.
Richard Jones used to do a wonderful job covering the footy on the radio in Bendigo.
What has happened to him??
Is the coverage so bad now that no-one listens??
From what my family in Bendigo tells me, the other radio stations and the television station in Bendigo do very little for the BFL.
That's not good.

Also late congratulations to Eaglehawk. I can't believe Derrick Filo is still running around. A further opponent of mine. There's no way I could still play.

gareth, radio station thing is up in the air, may lose frequency if abc takes it but that isnt known yet and with an election iminent would think wont for a while. footy on the fresh is as good as it has ever been covering not just the bfl, they did lvfl and hdfl grand finals as well would think heaps listen, richard jones had footy reports in the addy this year so i assume he's gone there.

Jonesy has been part of the Fresh Saturday morning shows and still covers games around the grounds just not in the box on match days like he used to be.

Was there more into the reasoning behind North Cities coach Shane McCarty's resigning than just personal reasons. Was he thrown in the deep end when appointed coach of the new fc
As a former player and coach what is McCarty's background in playing & coaching, where did his career begin - where did it take him and was he always going to be a coach.
Is/was he respected by his peers playing & coaching !? serious thoughts/opinions would be appreciated.

The North City boys were pretty shocked by his decisions as it has come out of the blue. Spoke to a player last night and he had no idea what the reasons were but the boys were told in a meeting this week about it. The boys respected him as coach.

McCarty played with North Ballarat pre VFL then coached Buninyong in CHFL(3 years) to the finals. Coached East Point in Ballarat in their first two years with no success(2 wins in 2 years),had a role at Redan for a couple of years before taking on North City. Don't know what his reasons are but must be a problem as City were just starting to look ok.:thumbsu:

I think the side with Houlihan and Reaper playing forward was the strongest - 2003. Last years was stronger than this with the loss of Sippy and Dillon. Gisborne do a great job seeing that have a small half forward flanker as there leading goal kicker. One power forward short this year.

Ollie won Gissy B&F followed by Fitzy.

KA i here that the Gisborne hierachy are looking to solve the power forward problem by trying to recruit Tyntynder goal kicking machine Brad Carroll any truth???

Does anyone here follow Gisborne?
Does Jessica Partidge still follow them around? She was always hot.

Just wondering who won all the different clubs B&F this year

Maryborough's best and fairest results are as follows;

Seniors- 1st Joel Malone, 2nd Ash Noonan, 3rd Mathew Johnstone
Reserves- 1st Travis Cornwall, 2nd Linc Grant & Mathew Hurse

On another note, the ink has already dried on the coaching gig at maryborough. Former East Point coach Shane Fisher is the man for 2008.

The Leak, I believe that this is a big mistake that the Maryborough FC has made by appointing Shane Fisher as coach, especially after reading the bendigo advertiser where they said they were looking for a playing coach, Fisher cannot play at Major League level, simple as that.

I overheard some things from current players at a certain bar that is frequented by the East Point boys saying they were looking forward to a new coach that they could talk too, someone who is not worried and paranoid, hearing this was very intersting and gave an insight to what the players actually thought of their coach, They obvioulsy did not respect him and play for him.

Carroll is a gun but Gissy are after somone a little better than Brad.

Fischer is a rabbit - Mary will go backwards next year. Wait to you get a glimps of his tatts!

KA
Will Saunders play on for Gis? No doubt he would be interested in coaching either now or down the track would Gisborne look at appointing him as their senior coach for 2008 or will he have to look elsewhere with Barham at the helm. Forgive me if this has already been spoken about?

I would also like to say that Darryl Wilson is a terrific appointment for the Flat he is a massive step in the right direction for that club. He is a quality person with a fantastic football brain who will not only help their young blokes out but will also be an effective marketing tool to help attract the right players to take the flat forward.

3 years time they will be back playing finals. Massive challenge tho.

Aah, the coaching silly season....

Believe that Shane McCarty may have been pushed at North City.

And is it definite that Shane Fisher is coaching Maryborough as a little birdy told me that the coaching job at Cohuna is his for the taking?
