Daddy's Home 2.

A comedy that failed to make me laugh except for the moments I was laughing at it and one part at the end... which didn't feature any of the main cast.

Will Farrell had some hits (Anchorman, Step Brothers) but has missed alot lately, though the first Daddy's Home was solid, this wasn't necessary and it was funny - it was also incredibly awkward at times. It's very few amusing moments come from the kids, rather than the adults.

Starting to hate Mel Gibson for putting his name to such shit on a consistent basis. Mel goes from doing great stuff like Blood Father (which might not be the best movie, but he's ****ing amazing in it) to shit like this that doesn't deserve him. John Lithgow is far too much in this and Mark Wahlberg is another fine actor who consistently putting his name to trash lately (Transformers)

I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy.

.5/5 (D-)

Ah fair enough, I'm 39 reckon I saw it as a teenager and has been one of my favourite films ever since, watch it at least once a year.
It was definitely outstanding. Glad I watched it in the end.

Once Upon A Time In Venice - I... I don't even know where to start, this bizarre set up had Bruce Willis, Jason Momoa, Jessica Gomes, John Goodman, Kall Penn as well as a few other blink and youll miss it cameos from well know actors (and I'm pretty sure Tyron Woodley from the UFC) but looked and felt like a poor midday telemovie. Willis plays a private detective/manchild living in Venice beach and hijinks and about 35 stories sort of start and then don't really go anywhere, I think its meant to be an action/comedy but its not really either. Having said all that I didn't hate it... 6/10

The trailer was enough to make me go WTF, haven’t and won’t be bothered watching it consequently.

Near Dark (1987) - Cool vampire movie. Bit different to your typical vampire movie, good mix of action, comedy & gore. Couple of outstanding scenes, ending a bit weak but still an enjoyable movie. 7/10

71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance (1994)
- Interesting movie from Michael Haneke. 71 scenes about several seemingly unrelated characters. More of a study of violence and a commentary of Austrian life. Quite disturbing & intellectual and the same time, I won't forget the last scene for quite some time. 7/10

Breathless (1960)
- Classic French new wave movie. About a petty criminal on the lam after panicking and murdering a policeman. Very cool movie. 7.5/10

The Foreigner - Jackie Chan and Pierce Brosnan. If you're Jackie Chan fan then you will love this movie imo. Probably one of his best movie although we see a different side of JC - a more serious tone movie rather than his usual action/comedy. 9/10

Lucky enough to go with two absolute pearlers tonight.

Don’t Tell - new Aussie courtroom drama based on the true story of the catholic Brisbane boarding school sexual misconduct scandal of the 90s. All star Aussie cast in a very understated brutal and harrowing story of the case that changed the landscape of the catholic school set up Australia wide. Not for the feint hearted but absolutely must watch cinema. 9/10

Wind River - based on another true story this is the last in Tyler Sheridan’s western frontier modern saga (sicario and hell of high water being the others) Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen shine in a brilliant cut very non shiny film. Much like don’t tell this is rough to sit through but one of the best films of the year. 9.5/10

Naked (1993) - I originally watched this at the cinema what seems like an eon ago now & promptly forgot about it until recently when watching one of the director Mike Leigh's more recent movies, Mr Turner, which is also very good. Warts & all if you like that sort of thing, very funny at times & a great performance by David Thewlis made this an enjoyable revisit - 8/10.

Acting on the advice of this board, put my distaste for Ben Affleck aside and watched Argo

Really enjoyable, awesome story, entertaining and tense.

Affleck still pisses me off with his douche face and penchant for American flag imagery.

But a ripping story well told 4/5

Was surprised to see Coco screening at my local today so took the wife and kid down to see it.

I really had no idea what was going to happen, it was good, kept the kid riveted and unlike the good dinosaur I'll be happy to watch this one again

The Disaster Artist

No idea how this will play for audiences unfamiliar with The Room because so much of it is predicated on knowledge of. The best comparison is obviously Ed Wood but this isn't that good - funnier, but far narrower and not as human. Franco's performance (or impression) is killer though and if he gets that Oscar nod it's going to be a surreal awards show.

I have never heard of The Room until this weekend thanks to Honest Trailers (highly recommend on YouTube).

Plan on checking it out tomorrow.

You'll never experience anything like it again. Every movie you watch from henceforth will also appear 10% brighter.

Knocked out some classics id never seen

The Untouchables
I found this a struggle. Great cast, but almost cartoonish. Costner as well... how the hell did he become a star? Plodding movie that didnt seem to be able to get it together with any emotional impact.
5/10

Death Wish

I love Bronson. Massive fan. But after the abuse and comittal of his daughter and murder of his wife, he acted like his favourite cereal was out of stock at woolies. Other than that the dark new york stuff was great. Not bad, and i can see why they made so many.
