Where will Ben Cousins play football next year?

I'm a bit mystified by posts suggesting that Cousins is already headed to one particular club.

People claiming that they "have it on good authority" that he's going to Hawthorn or Collingwood or wherever.

Some clubs may have expressed an interest in Cousins, and Cousins may be prepared to play for them.

But it won't be a done deal until Cousins actually nominates for a draft and gets selected.

Once nominated, anyone can select him.

Raffle him...hamstrings already becoming an issue to add to the baggage.
When talking about Cousins the word "recovery" in just a euphemism for "pulling ya head in" ...he's had his share of patience and sympathy so it doent matter if he's washed up in the game.

Also he has mentioned that he has a Victorian AFL club already lined-up.
Where has he mentioned that?

How would he get to Collingwood even if he wanted and Collingwood wanted him?

If Cousins wants to play and can convince clubs he is going to stay clean he will most likely go in the PSD to Melbourne with the first pick. If there are some doubts about him then he might slide a little. I can’t see anyone finishing in the top 6 getting a look in.

Be funny if Freo drafted him with the pick before WCE.

Has to go via the national draft mark. He is not a contracted player so he is coming from outside the 'system' and as such has to be drafted.

If we could get him with our second round pick I would consider it but with the gold coast concessions coming in we can't afford to not use our first pick on a kid. The Gold Coast thing may see him left alone by most clubs who will be trying to stock up on talent.

Personally I think to have any chance of being drafted by any club, he has to start playing soon at state level as his body will need to be tuned for footy or risk ending up like Dew with dodgy hammies.

Prior to that incident he had a good record we managed to bring out the best footy in him here at the Swans.
Had he missed the GF no one would say that. Fact is Hall got older and more mature, like most footballers - well apart from Nick Davis and Peter Everitt.

This whole myth about Sydney is due to the fact the Lockett continued to be as good as he always was but didn’t get suspended as much. Cousins in Sydney would be no more or less likely to success or fail than in Brisbane or Melbourne. This “Sydney” culture is massively over stated. What isn’t overstated is the influence Paul Roos has on a group of players.

I didn’t realise he had to nominate for the ND. I wasn’t aware of the rule about no contract. Not sure if it is relevant but his contractual status is disputed. Doesn’t he claim he has a contract and WCE invalidly cancelled it?

As for playing, I am surprised he isn't. I can only wonder at why and it makes less inclined to want to pick him up.

I don't see why he couldn't nominate for the PSD if that suited him.

The PSD is for players that have been delisted - i.e. they have been but currently aren't on a list and don't have a contract.

I'm sure any decision will be based on how it works best for him.

When has he said that?

I'd say he got it from this...

Cousins is in Perth this week after another surfing retreat in the northwest of the state. He reportedly told friends at a wedding on the Swan River recently he had a Melbourne-based club to join next season.
"It's all sorted, I've got a club in Melbourne," Cousins reportedly said.

I have it on good authority he'll be playing for Hawthorn next year.

i'm dyyying to know what your "good authority" is. please tell us!!! or are you not allowed? is it a secret

seriously, if you're going to say "you have it on good authority", at least show some balls and say where this came from to add at least a tiny bit of credability.

cousins wont pay ever again.

Somehow i doubt it will be collingwood.
If he enters the draft can't he get picked by teams that finnish outside the eight ?
I'm sure collingwood will be playing finals this year so that would probably rule us out.
Any teams like essendon, carlton, melbourne, swans,Richmond etc would have an easier chance to aquire his services before collingwood.Collingwood would have a slight chance depending where we finnish but i'd say we would have to grab him on our first pick.
I doubt whether he is worth a first round pick.I would rather pick up a young gun in the draft than cousens.Cousens is 30 has maybe 2 years max left in him,and being out of footy for 12 months the game could have passed him by ? If he came cheap no worries but that 's it.
possibly a second or third round ,but he'll be gone by then.

I'd love him at Collingwood but I'm not convinced Malthouse would have him.
Malthouse puts huge emphasis on character, I've heard he's not keen to have a potentially disruptive Cuz around such a young team. But then I heard that from a journalist so it's probably bullshit.

He'll play in the AFL, but under the strictest of conditions.

Similar to a baseballer by the name of Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers (for further information, do a search of him, because his story is remarkable, and is similar to Cousins and proves to all the nay sayers out there that it can be done of done right).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Hamilton_(baseball))

He also fought severe addictions to crack cocaine and alcohol (which lead him to be banned indefinatly from Major League Baseball), to come back and be a productive centre fielder for the Rangers, who is up for All Star Selection for the American League.

He had to agree to three times a week testing, curfews and other limits to protect him from relapsing.

And so far, it's worked and it proves that rehab is far better than banishment and abandonment (a policy so advocated by the blood suckers in the press).

I hope he plays because he was born to play, and it his his destiny, but I hope he doesn't go to a Melbourne club because the vultures (USC, Hutchy & Fatprick) will be circling.

Essendon won't take him. No room in our start studded midfield.
Seriously I can't see an Essendon or a Melbourne taking a risk on him when he won't be around for our next premiership. More likely to go to a team that is in the mix now.

I think, please correct me if i am wrong, that he needs to nomintate a WAFL/VFL etc club before June 30th and begin some sort of relationship with that club...

I heard something along those lines a few days ago somewhere, I think!

FWIW, I do believe he will play again. Still undecided whether I want him at the Hawks or not, but since i can do nothing about it, I will just wait and see what happens.

If he was delisted by West Coast then they can't trade him, he'll have to nominate for the PSD. So maybe Melbourne, Essendon or Fremantle depending on who has the room to fit him in their cap.

would like to see a kerr or cus at essendon next season but cant see knights being willing to bring those type of individuals to such a young club

unfortunate as such a pickup would probably be invaluable to developing our midfield

Collingwood would be an obvious choice for the reasons above, but I think Sydney would be the best environment for him. The Swans are well known for turning players around due to the leadership and culture at the club.
The Melbourne media would be jumping at the chance for a negative story on him if he returned to a Victorian club.

Like Barry The Imbecile?

And how is Spider Everitt going?

"No d***heads" indeed.:D
