Will be at StKilda. Pelchan knew weeks ago this would happen.

And the CEO of one club who isn't the club who currently has Caddy on his list, is the only important person that matters?

Caddy will make the choice, St Kilda are a damn good shot

Caddy is not a free agent so who he wants to go to may not have any bearing on the situation. The people in the box seat are the GCS who will decide on what offer they will except and where Caddy will end up. If Caddy does not agree then he will have to go into the draft where again he may not have any choice in who selects him (but in these situations clubs tend to have a gentlemen's agreement).

The GCS are not going to give him up for nothing and let him go to the draft. I wouldn't count Geelong out because they have a first round pick 15 and a compo pick up their sleeves to get him.

Good luck to Caddy if he has decided which club he'd prefer, but it isn't his decision in the end it is the GCS Footy Dept's.

There is a lot to play out here with the Tippett news. Could change things In a big way re Caddy.

Why is everyone assuming that clubs will offer only their first round pick for Caddy? There is potential for a first rounder and other picks that can be gained by other trades. Also, there may be some GC interest in a matured bodied player as well, despite their list squeeze, (if McKenna does'nt get some wins on the board next year he appears cooked). GC footy dept hold the whip hand and need to tell the interested clubs what they are looking for. With so much interest, someone will go whooshka and do the deal. as yet, everyone hopes they know what GC wants based on what they have, but really this is a dead issue until that is made clear. Once it is, the deal will get done as I am sure someone will pony up.

Fine.

Who is going to have the best pick to offer Gold Coast? Geelong.
Who is completely in the dark regarding Caddys intentions? Geelong
Who has the most to gain by inciting these sorts of comments? Geelong.
Who is the writer of this piece of incitement? Adam McNicol.
Who does Adam McNicol fervently support? Geelong
Who else does Adam McNicol "write" for? geelongcats.com.au

Now lets look at how Adam presented that article:

Caddy may be forced into draft

By Adam McNicol 4:39 PM Tue 02 Oct, 2012
GOLD Coast football manager Marcus Ashcroft says the Suns are prepared to make Josh Caddy enter the NAB AFL Draft if a reasonable trade can't be arranged.
What did Ashcroft actually state:
He is being pursued by a number of clubs, including Geelong, St Kilda and North Melbourne, and the Suns are promising to drive a hard bargain. "From a club point of view, we'll only work out a deal that's going to give the club the best outcome," Ashcroft said.
"He played only two games in his first year, but this year he played every game, and the development that our guys have put into him over two years is hard to measure. "How do you rate his potential? He might well go into a side next year and play up to All Australian potential. "We need to add all those things up and make a calculated and considered judgement, and hopefully a deal is worked out."
Asked if Gold Coast would force Caddy into the draft if a suitable trade deal does not eventuate, Ashcroft said: "Potentially."

How did Adam end the article?

Geelong is seen as having a good chance to snare Caddy because it still has one of its Gary Ablett compensation picks up its sleeve.

"Now that Gold Coast are accepting that he needs to come home for personal reasons, we'd certainly be very interested to see what happens," the Cats' football manager, Neil Balme, said.

"I don't think we're the only ones who would like to have Josh Caddy. I think you've got 17 clubs … that want to get him."

He may as well have signed off as Neil fricken Balme!!!!!

The article only backs up what I was saying above. Why some morons here are still choosing to believe Caddy can pick his club is still beyond me. He is not a Free Agent so it's either he goes where the GCS accept an offer to trade or he goes into the NAB Draft.

If Geelong don't get him we will move just like we did with Travis Boak. All they can do is make an offer and if it doesn't succeed life goes on. I trust Wells will get some good talent into the club whether it is through a trade or via the draft. But I also trust that the club wont pay some ridiculously inflated price for a young man who is trying to cash in on potential.

You have at least four teams that are obviously going to give up their first rounder. He's not going into the draft.

The article is propaganda rubbish.

It's journalistic toilet paper.

whatever you believe the article is about is your business, the point is that Caddy cannot choose a club and demand he gets traded there. GCS are in the box seat and where he ends up will be about what they can get for him. If no one is prepared to give the GCS what they want in order to seal a trade, then he will end up in the Draft.

So speculation that Caddy has chosen this or that club, is completely irrelevant to the process.

Josh will choose his the club of his choice and a deal will get done.

Why else do you think Geelong are getting the fidgets?

well you can believe what you like and I really hope it turns out the way Caddy wishes but I doubt it. Geelong is very comfortable where they sit and if Caddy goes somewhere else then who cares. We have some great young talent coming up...you know the ones that just won us the VFL flag...so if we cannot nab a player by trade, we will develop our own. That formula has won us 3 flags recently..how's North going?

Presented in a format that truly reflects the nature of the material.

McNicol is a low grade spruiker for Balme.

My learned colleague , the information in this article was said by Ashcroft on Trade Radio to the 3 wise monkeys , in the last couple of hours. That a Journalist has tabulated it for the AFL website which is then linked to the Geelong website; purely an AFL insinuative. Geelong conspiracy? Hardly. Could please deliver the facts on which you base this "panic" on.
